About Dave
I'm an experienced GM who regularly runs campaigns and one shots at my local game stores and conventions. I like to give my players opportunities to create fun and memorable moments and above all have a fun time.

My favorite books are
The Devils, Joe Abercrombie (Who has said my words "embodied the virtues of brevity and self-deprecating wit." Dungeon Crawler Carl, Matt Dinniman (No comment on me yet) Anything, Sir Terry Prachet
People are always surprised when I tell them
I taught Maths (and lived in) a boarding school.
The three words my players would use to describe me are...
Hilarious, innovative, modest
How Dave runs games
I'm adaptable. I've introduced numerous players to DnD. I've ran combat heavy sessions and role play focused sessions. I think about what story my players want and work towards that. The theme and style that I run tend towards princess bride rather than lord of the rings. But when appropriate I love giving my placers more serious moments in the sea of chaos.

My favorite trope is...
The random small NPC who gets adopted. Then proceeds to get caught up in all manner of shenanigans.
My games focus on...
Fun and tense situations the players find themselves in and bouncing off of them.
Rules are...
There to make things fair, balanced and occasionally bent when situations deserve them.
Dave's ideal table
Friendly, engaged, creative. It depends a lot on the one shot or campaign and what the table likes. A tense session isn't the place for the bard to throw out one liners. A comedic one shot isn't the place for the rouge to monologue about their childhood. There are few times where monologues fit in but as long as players have a sense of situation and are happy to adapt to each other I am happy

I love it when a player
Does something I didn't expect. The more creative the better. As long as it fits in with the session.
My perfect party mix is
One where the PCs are more than stats. I believe any mix of classes etc work. The trouble comes when everyone is exactly the same. Give me four interesting rouges over four edgy orphans playing different classes any day.
My table is not the place for...
Creativity, fun and good stories
