About Merp
I’m a humble GameMaster in my 30s, from West Coast Canada and I love Dungeons & Dragons This game has been a core passion of mine ever since I discovered it during COVID and all I want to do is share it with everyone. What began with simple curiousty about this new show called Critical Role, and rag tag group called Vox Machina quickly grew into a full-blown love for Exandria and the incredible storytelling potential within it. Since then, I’ve immersed myself deeply in the world — watching and rewatching Critical Role, learning its lore, and, most importantly, finding ways to expand on it with stories of my own. I draw heavy inspiration from Matthew Mercer, Aabria Iyengar, and Brennan Lee Mulligan — particularly their focus on collaborative storytelling, emotional stakes, and character-driven narratives. My goal as a Game Master is not just to run a game, but to create a space where players feel empowered to explore rich backstories, make meaningful choices, and experience genuine character growth over time. I’ve been GMing consistently for over two years, running between 3–5 sessions per week for most of that time. I’ve also spent the past year running games professionally through SPG, and I bring that experience to every table I run. I gravitate strongly toward long-form campaigns, where stories are allowed to breathe and evolve naturally. My most recent campaign ran for 50 sessions over the course of a year and featured dedicated narrative arcs for every player character. If you’re looking for a player-driven campaign set in Exandria — one that respects the lore while boldly adding to it — and a GM who’s deeply invested in your character’s journey, you’ll feel right at home at my table.

I got started GMing...
Because I love to create stories and tell them. DND is the best way to tell stories with people.
How Merp runs games
My games are strongly player driven, I have story hooks to follow but ultimately the table gets to dictate the story. I think agency of the players is very important to allowing players to feel comfortable and to have the most fun from the sessions. My sessions tend to lean into more story driven role play, and I work on giving each NPC you meet a unique experience, including voices/accents and backstories that fit into the world. When there is combat, they will be exciting and challenge you to work with your table to solve the encounters. My inspirations are Matt Mercer and Brennan Lee Mulligan, and while I am not them, I study and work on becoming the best version of myself. I take pride in my work and you'll have maps for combats, visuals for monsters and NPC's you meet and music to enhance the experience. My goal is to take you into another world each sessions, where your characters can really effect change in the world around them, and feel like a badass hero while you do it.

Rules are...
Rules are a framework, not a cage. I run mostly RAW/RAI so the game stays fair and consistent, but I’m absolutely willing to bend or reinterpret rules in the moment if it serves the story, the table’s fun, or a great character choice. Player creativity is always encouraged — if you want to try some
When it comes to voices
I do voices where it adds flavor and helps distinguish NPCs, but I never expect or require players to do accents themselves. Sometimes it’s a full voice, sometimes it’s just a change in tone, the goal is clarity and immersion, not performance You’re welcome to roleplay in first or third person
Merp's ideal table
My table is a collaborative, story-first space where everyone is invested in the narrative we’re building together. It’s a place for players who enjoy having real agency — where choices matter, actions have consequences, and the world responds to who your character is and what they do. I’m looking for improv-friendly, “yes, and…” players who enjoy engaging with the story, the setting, and each other. This is a table for players who play for the story and the group, not just for individual spotlight moments, and who are excited to help elevate their fellow players. The general vibe is welcoming, emotionally engaged, and fun. We take the story seriously, but not ourselves. Being able to laugh at yourself, laugh with others, and celebrate both big heroic moments and spectacular failures is part of what makes the table special. If you enjoy character-driven storytelling, collaborative roleplay, and contributing to a living, breathing world, you’ll fit right in here.

I love it when a player
I love it when a player interacts with the world in a way that feels real, thoughtful, or surprising — especially when it uncovers new corners of Exandria that we get to explore together.
