About Jade Rossus
I've been a DM ever since I first got into the concept of a RPG, and being able to be a whole world and let people interact with it and shape it has always been an amazing experience. It's an incredible way to channel a creative drive into a productive and social medium. I have an ongoing D&D campaign that has gone for a year and a half now. I've run fantasy, sci-fi, horror, adventure, open-world, oneshots and full campaigns. I started out in a play-by-post style of game, which then evolved to me creating many, many homebrew systems to run physically with my friends, testing out the style of game before compromising to any specific system. Today, D&D is my go-to, but experimenting and tweaking always leads me to a new system every so often, be it mine or someone else's. Over all, if you want a patient DM who loves a strong villain and underdog characters, there's surely a spot for you with me.

I became a GM because
Creating is awesome. With RPGs, it feels like all my creativity is bring applied to something greater, creating joy for others, which is awesome.
My favorite shows/movies are
The Mandela Catalogue or The Oldest View for horror. Princess Mononoke or Whispers from the Heart for heartwarming stories. Anything made from the heart can be enjoyed, so if you read this, send me something cool to watch when you join a game, I'll appreciate it.
When I'm not running games I'm...
Organizing the sessions for my teaching program using RPGs. I can't escape this game. I've always felt like it was such a great way to socialize, and testing its potential as a teaching tool for things like math, history and philosophy has been awesome, if a little exausting.
How Jade Rossus runs games
I'm a great improviser, if the players feel like walking in an unexpected direction, then there should be stuff there. Sometimes they find new secret stuff, sometimes they find the plot, sometimes the plot chases them down regardless. But I like to reward every creative action. Every fixed problem grants a new fun thingmabob or key information, every ignored problem comes back bigger and badder in a couple sessions. I enjoy doing an even mix of roleplay, combat and exploration. Here are a couple of the games I've run, to give you an idea of my style: Cidatel of Caecus - A bunch of kids enter an abanoned hangar looking for a new hang-out spot, only to find that this hangar is the prison of a massive, eldritch shadow creature, capable of building an entire world out of their body. The kids, trapped in this black-and-white realm, must use their perception to literally shape the world around them, using it as an active resorce to solve their problems. Draconia - Dragons shape the lands of Draconia. These majestic creatures are the closest thing to gods in the material realm, and in the massive landscape of the continent, every major city was built from the ground up by a Guardian Dragon, that cares and protects the people from the threats of the Chromatic Dragons. Though, recently, dragon eggs from both sides have started mysteriously dissapearing, and a coven of long-forgotten arch-witches are slowly reaching their wicked fingers into this mess.

I once ran a session...
One of the characters was getting in a debate with another regarding a recently killed shadow thief. They were getting tired of the discussion and simply decided "I roll to sleep". Nat 20, best way to end a conversation.
Rules are...
Great for the mechanical parts of the game, and to apply an extra randomness to the story. But they’re nothing more than lines in the sand. You can step on them if you need to, or draw them elsewhere if you want, just as long as it doesn’t impose on the collective understanding of the lines.
When it comes to voices
If you're talking to an undead pirate merfolk, it should sound like an undead pirate merfolk.
Jade Rossus's ideal table
I really enjoy players that are nice and kind players. If you're the type of person to yell at another player when they make a mistake or unoptimal decision, please reconsider joining my games. The main goal of everyone on my table should be that everyone is having fun, and if someone isn’t, then that needs to be resolved before moving on. On another note, I also really enjoy creative players, that like to find unusual solutions to problems. And sociable players that interact a bunch with the NPCs and each other. Role playing is awesome and if you feel embarassed or shunned at any moment, feel free to reach out and I'll try to help giving space for your character to shine. It's a collective story-telling game, your inputs on the story are as important as mine or anybody else's.

I am for a vibe that's...
Multiple. Sometimes things are spooky, sometimes things are funny, sometimes things are mysterious, sometimes they are funky. Expect a roller coster of emotions and still come out surprised, that's my vibe!
I love it when a player
Opens a random box or barrel. Who knows what's in there?
I think metagaming...
Is a dangerous game to play... A creature in the world could notice inconsistencies in behavior, sudden changes in understanding, answers unreachable by most fluently coming out of one man's tongue... You wouldn't want it to know the truth, would you?
