About Elijah
I've enjoyed exploring and making stories my entire life, finding the exploration of heroes and drama of their plights a passion. It began with reading, and it grew to boardgames and video games. When I discovered TTRPG's there was no going back. I've been a player and a GM, enjoying both equally. I love creating worlds and getting people to experience the magic of them. As a GM I very much encourage and focus on an engaging story while empowering player's to make choices and take risks. For me that means roleplay that has consequences and combat is challenging. This is one way I make success matter and victory sweet. I also love to reward my players for doing a good job, thinking up clever plans, having epic roleplay moments and being true to their characters. I work hard to include everyone in ever aspect of play, encouraging participation from everyone. I prefer longer campaigns, so that we can get to know the players characters and have those epic moments but I am quite comfortable with shorter sessions like a one shots or 3-4 session campaigns. I am quite proficient in Discord and Owlbear, doing several play by posts as a player and GM. I have a few premade campaigns that I am familiar with including Curse of Strahd. I also have my own homebrew world I am quite proud of!

How Elijah runs games
As a GM I very much encourage and focus on an engaging story while empowering player's to make choices and take risks. For me that means roleplay that has consequences and combat is challenging which is one of the ways I make success earned and victory sweet. I also love to reward my players for doing a good job, thinking up clever plans, having epic roleplay moments and being true to their characters. I work hard to include everyone in ever aspect of play, encouraging participation from everyone. I love roleplay and character decisions. I don't require speaking as the character, but I do want to know what your character would do!. I am a fan of rule of cool as well. If you make a good case, I will not stop you from being amazing.

I deal with rules issues by...
If we cant solve the issue in about a minute i will make a ruling. Afterwards I will look into the rule extensively and make a final judgment after that, showing what influenced my decision.
Rules are...
The foundation of these games, but not the be all end all of them. FUN is the primary factor. Rules often need to be changed, added or removed to facilitate that.
When it comes to voices
I do my best to give characters a variety of voices. For me it is a fun addition to the game. that is not to say it is a requirement. Not all characters need it and especially I do not expect or require it from my players.
Elijah's ideal table
The main goal of all this is to have FUN. It is most important. how I most enjoy the game is building a world and fleshing it out. I love giving my players choices and adapting to their decisions. That does not mean I wont give hints or help when you are lost. Roleplay is a lot of fun for me, but the maximum I expect is a player describing what their character is doing and why. Voices and roleplay ARE NOT A REQUIREMENT. Wanting to explore your character and how they react is a big part of these game, doesn't mean you have to be an expert. I try to challenge my players in combat, but only through the veil of tactics and making npc's and monsters feel real.

I love it when a player
Asks what their character might know or wonders what their character might do. My favorite part of this game is getting to know these characters and learning their stories, so the more we flesh them out the better.
I think it's a red flag when players...
Don't consider the other players opinions and choice in game. Doing cool stuff is everywhere, there is no reason to take away other peoples fun just to do something. You are all a team and decisions should be decided on together, even if they just have to tie your character up for a bit to keep true
I think metagaming...
Has a sweet spot. Being exited to use your abilities and making good decisions is not metagaming. Good combos that influence your ability choices and classes is totally fine. Making assumption because you now about vampires or think I must do something because this a game take away from the fun
