About That_Trevor_Guy🍁🏳️🌈
Hello! I’m Trevor, also known as That Trevor Guy on most platforms, and I have been telling stories for more than 30 years. I have been playing TTRPGs since the late-90s, and I have been GMing games for almost 10 years. My favourite systems to run and play are D&D 5e, Dragonbane, and Daggerheart, though most of my gaming time is spent in Eberron—telling original stories and adapting official modules for that setting. At the heart of it, I love a good story: compelling protagonists, multi-dimensional adversaries, memorable locations, and societies full of flavour and history. As a GM, I try to bring those elements to every table I run. I see TTRPGs as collaborative storytelling, and I especially enjoy building worlds with players, following their choices, and helping create the kinds of dramatic, funny, surprising, and memorable moments that people keep talking about long after the session ends.

My favorite books are
Fantasy and Sci-fi, mysteries and thrillers. Lord of the Rings, The Stormlight Archive (Sanderson), Dark Matter (Blake Crouch), The Expanse (S. A. Corey), and pretty much anything written by William Gibson, Phillip K. Dick, Charles Soule, or Ed Brubaker.
The three words my players would use to describe me are...
Adaptive. Collaborative. Thoughtful.
When I'm not running games I'm...
...reading, writing, painting miniatures, or playing Warhammer 40k, video games, or disc golf.
How That_Trevor_Guy🍁🏳️🌈 runs games
My GM style is rooted in collaborative storytelling. I see myself as a guide: I create the world, the conflicts, and the consequences, but the players’ choices are what shape the story. I love giving players meaningful options for how they approach challenges, whether that means negotiation, investigation, clever problem-solving, or charging headfirst into danger. I may not be a professional voice actor, but I care deeply about character moments, relationships, and the emotional stakes of the story. I especially enjoy building on character backstories and weaving those details into the campaign so players feel connected to the world and invested in what happens next. I also enjoy high-stakes combat that asks players to think tactically, manage their resources, and make difficult decisions under pressure. I want combat to feel exciting and dangerous, but also purposeful—something that serves the story rather than simply filling time. To help bring the game world to life, I like using background music, VTT maps, visuals, and animations to create immersive environments that support the tone and flavour of the adventure. My goal is for players to feel like they are part of a living story where their choices matter and every session gives them something memorable to take away.

I deal with rules issues by...
I listen first and check the rules when practical. If it will take too long, I make a fair temporary ruling so the game can continue, then research it afterward, share the answer with the group, and apply the ruling consistently.
I prep by
...reviewing notes from the last few sessions to understand what players hope to accomplish, preparing likely social, combat, and exploration encounters, and staying ready to adapt when the party takes an unexpected path—because those unexpected choices often create the best moments.
Rules are...
...for interpretation (within reason). The Rule of Cool stands tall when the moment calls for it.
That_Trevor_Guy🍁🏳️🌈's ideal table
My table is collaborative, story-focused, and welcoming. I want players to feel like they are part of a living world where their choices matter, their characters’ stories are taken seriously, and every session gives the group something memorable to talk about afterward. Players who fit well at my table enjoy roleplay, teamwork, meaningful decisions, and a balance of social encounters, exploration, and high-stakes combat. I like players who are curious about the world, invested in their characters, respectful of the other people at the table, and excited to build the story together rather than compete for the spotlight. The general vibe is friendly, creative, and supportive, with room for drama, humour, danger, and emotional character moments. I enjoy tactical combat and challenging situations, but I care most about making sure those moments serve the story and give players interesting choices. I also use music, VTT maps, visuals, and animations to help create an immersive atmosphere. I ask players to be respectful, communicative, and willing to work as part of a group. D&D is a cooperative game, and my goal is to create a table where everyone feels safe, included, and excited to see what happens next.

I love it when a player
...makes an unexpected choice that could have serious or detrimental consequences.
I think min/maxing...
...is fine, within reason. If your goal for your character is to make them as powerful or unstoppable as possible, that's fine--as long as your willing to roleplay the consequences of wielding that power.
My perfect party mix is
...whatever party composition the payers come up with. My job is to provide encounters (whether they be combat, exploration, or social) that challenges a players abilities no matter what character options they select.
