About Duane Ellefson
A veteran gamer that started playing D&D when I was twelve. I grew up a half hour west of Lake Geneva, the birthplace of D&D and have had a lifelong passion for the game. I enjoy RPGs of all genres and have played my fair share over the years. My biggest passion, however, is creating worlds for people to explore, experience and influence through game play and imagination. I'm excited to get the chance to meet new people that enjoy gaming and having fun with RPGs. I look forward to the many stories will tell together. As one of my favorite sayings go, 'Dice tell stories'. I'm happy to be getting the chance to see those stories once again.

I got started GMing...
When I was about 13. I immediately fell in love with creating stories and worlds for my friends to explore and experience. Its been a life long passion of mine and I'm excited to have the opportunity to share these creations with more people.
My favorite books are
I got started in D&D through the world of Dragonlance and still have a lasting love for that setting and those books. I've been fortunate enough to meet Margaret Weis on a few occasions and she's been nothing but friendly, gracious, and kind. Sci-Fi wise, I loved the Heir to the Empire series.
The three words my players would use to describe me are...
Creative, Open minded, and Funny. I value players that approach a game in a unique way. I'm often times open to player ideas for their characters, even if they're out of box. My worlds tend to be a mix of themes both familiar and unorthodox, and no campaign is complete without a good dose of humor.
How Duane Ellefson runs games
I always enjoy good roleplaying and the creativity that comes with it. Adventure, action, combat, comedy, mystery, and collaborative storytelling are all important parts in a great campaign!

I deal with rules issues by...
Double checking the rule in the book, as GMs can certainly be wrong, there's a lot to remember with all of the rules. And I'm always open to other perspectives, though of course as the GM the final call is final.
Rules are...
A good guideline. Story and enjoyment should be of paramount important though. This doesn't mean core rules are out the window but creative interpretations are always a fun thing to see from players.
When it comes to voices
I like to sprinkle in voices as best I can. I'm no voice actor, but I enjoy giving it my best to try to add to immersion for the players at the table.
Duane Ellefson's ideal table
I like the table to feel open, friendly, and have a relaxed vibe to it. Roleplay can and often does have very intense moments, especially with a good story that players are immersed within. However, I always want players to feel comfortable and safe.

I am for a vibe that's...
Relaxed, chill, and humorous when appropriate.
I love it when a player
Surprises me with something I didn't think of and forces me to improvise.
I think min/maxing...
Isn't something that's needed, a good story and fun should always come first. But.. if you have fun min/maxing, I'm not going to stop you.
