About Kvanch

I've been playing TTRPG's for 8 years I started as a player in a massive West Marches game then picked up the local “forever GM” responsibilities for the last few years. For me, the essence of any fun campaign lies in collaboration. I truly love working with people to tell a story-to watch how your player choices shape and move the story along. Think of me not as an enemy but as a fan of your characters and the stories you bring, here to work them into a memorable narrative. Whether we’re dungeoneering, dreadnought-ing or sailing on high seas, I always try to tailor the narrative to the story we want to tell. I’m also adept at handling different group sizes, from the intense focus of a tightly knit party. everyone gets their spotlight. At my table, you’ll be treated to a prepared and immersive experience. I emphasize flow and atmosphere so that your only job is to embody and engage with your character.

How Kvanch runs games

I design my adventures with a focus on the real stakes and impact that player actions have on their worlds. I aim to put my players in truly compelling positions that offer difficult choices; without a simple or obviously “correct” route to a destination, players are encouraged to make thoughtful decisions and to consider the interesting, far-reaching consequences. To me, roleplay is absolutely the most important aspect of the tabletop gaming experience. As a GM, there's really nothing that makes me happier than observing players get immersed in the game and naturally discussing things among themselves while staying in character. I endeavor to make my worlds and scenarios that actively facilitate such player engagement. I tend to put twists on standard game mechanics, and am not afraid to incorporate unique and unconventional challenges or scenarios that force players to engage with the game’s systems in fresh ways beyond simple hack-and-slash mechanics. My background is actually in engineering, so my world-building is largely a systems-based approach driven by hardcore logic and analysis. I have what is basically an obsessive fixation on creating a real world where events will happen with or without player characters; factions pursue their objectives, the machine of society runs regardless of whether anyone is paying attention, etc., and the world has a tangible sense of purpose.
