I’ve been writing, world/character building and collaborative storytelling (for fun) for 10+ years. 5 years ago I asked a few friends and family members if they wanted to do some D&D with me and I’ve been hooked since. My favorite things about GMing are building worlds with deep lore, creating memorable moments and dealing with the chao-… creativity that players bring.

I got started GMing...

My dad told me about his positive experience playing TTRPGs so i decided to give them a shot. I spent some time learning then bought some books, dice, trays, maps & minis then invited some friends and family over. I took over as DM on the second session and have been DMing ever since.

When I'm not running games I'm...

Usually gaming. My favorites are strategic worldbuilding games like Civilization. Survival crafting games are a close second. I also do a bit of woodworking when I'm feeling artistic.

How King runs games

Homebrew and the Rule of Cool reign supreme here. I do not strictly adhere to the rules but I do support chaotic decisions, just expect consequences. My campaigns are usually combat and exploration heavy.

Where players gave up a memory but the NPC took way more than what was offered. (Paladin asked to forget the catastrophe that brought the party together and forgot his home planet entirely.) Monk spent a few in game hours trying to convince the party they had been traveling together for months.

King's ideal table

Both new and experienced players may find some enjoyment at my table. Most of my games are combat & exploration centered but occasionally I will run more roleplay and narrative focused games. I see RAW as a guideline not as a way of life. If you prefer games that strictly follow RAW then my table may not be for you. If you have a crazy build you've been wanting to try or want to face wild homebrew monsters I might be your guy.

Comes up with a creative idea or solution to a problem that I didn't anticipate.

I think min/maxing...

Is acceptable in certain situations. I tend to run combat heavy games so I expect some min/maxing to be done. I do believe that the line is crossed when a player's goal becomes winning every encounter.
