Hello!! My name is Greg, I live in Texas with my wife, daughter, and two cats. I have been running D&D games for 15 years and have a deep love for all things ttrpg. My specialty is immersive, creative, and inclusive storylines. Playing D&D is my passion and I love playing with people of all experience levels. I also really enjoy teaching newbies how to play, if I can be the person who gives someone their first D&D experience that brings me joy. My daughter is autistic, which has given me a unique skillset that helps me to talk and communicate better with neurodivergent individuals. I understand joining new groups can be stressful and complicated for neurodivergent individuals, that's why I make it a point to create a safe and inviting space for everyone. I got started GMing...

I got started off playing, then GMing D&D 3.5e. I also played a little 4e, but didn't like it very much lol. Now I mainly GM D&D 5.5e and have been enjoying it. I have also had the pleasure to play in older editions like 1st and 2nd edition. I also love trying out new systems and games.

How DMOverlord runs games

I try to balance a fair amount of all three pillars of roleplay when running games. I always try to give players the most immersive experience I can. Regardless of what game we are playing I always promote an inclusive environment for all.

Rules are...

There to balance the game and set guidelines for gameplay; however they are not shackles that keep us from making the game our own. I mostly stick to rule as written, but have no issue with using rule of cool in certain situations if it enhances the narrative or creativeness of the table.

When it comes to voices

I am not a very good voice actor. I try sometimes, but most of the time I give a general description of the NPCs accent or mannerisms and let your imagination fill in the rest.

DMOverlord's ideal table

My table style is one that promotes fun for everyone. I am also a firm believer in playing characters that fit with the collective story everyone is trying to tell. I think the ideal table is when there is an open communication between everyone. Expectations should be clear and well communicated.

I think metagaming...

Is a serious issue that is not addressed enough in the community. We all have pre-conceived notions of certain things or have enough experience with TTRPGs that make it hard not to metagame. Accidental metagaming is understandable, but intentionally metagaming to benefit your character is cheating.

I think min/maxing...

I think min/maxing is only acceptable if there is open communication between everyone at the table. In my experience if one player at the table is min/maxing and everyone else isn't then almost every time that player ends up negatively effecting the fun at the table.

Racism, sexism, or any other type of bigotry. I have a zero tolerance policy for all related behavior.
