About Asher

I've been playing D&D and other RPGs for almost five years now, and have completed four full campaigns. I enjoy running campaigns with intrigue, mystery. I like when my players shenanigans lead to new and interesting plotlines or encounters.

I got started GMing...

My GM at the time was running a linear story, and I wanted room to do some real crazy shenanigans, so I started running my own Campaigns.

My favorite shows/movies are

I love shows like Severance and Andor for their well thought-out plots and characters, but I can also appreciate something like light hearted like Ted Lasso. Gotta love the crappy movies like The Room and The Gardener too.

When I'm not running games I'm...

I've been completely addicted to reading the A Song of Ice and Fire series recently (great books, I highly recommend), and I've been learning to play the electric guitar.

How Asher runs games

I like to create intriguing plotlines with a variety of NPCs and then sit back and let the players decide how they approach it. Because of this I am pretty improvisational, so I'm flexible enough to go along with whatever the players want to do.

I once ran a session...

I once ran a session of a Spelljammer Campaign where the players just ignored my plot and flew around robbing people like pirates and they said it was their favorite session of the entire 25 session campaign.

I prep by

Drawing diagrams (that are pretty much indecipherable scrawlings to anyone other than me) and short notes about a variety of different paths I think the party might take.

My games focus on...

My games tend to focus on what the players choose to engage with. You grow attached to Benny Fiddlesticks the child thief? Well I'll make Benny Fiddlesticks show up more often. Are you particularly interested in a side plot? Well I can make it much more important to the main story.

Asher's ideal table

All I want from my ideal table are players who mesh well and are active in pursuing what their characters want (whether its the campaign's story or some side thing).

I love it when a player

I love it when a player takes command and pushes the party toward some creative solution to a challenge or pursues their own goals without me needing to guide them.

I think it's a red flag when players...

I think its a red flag when players continually try to split from the party or fail to communicate with the rest of the party.
