About Gino

Welcome! I'm Gino, an experienced and fun DM. I've been playing TTRPGs since I was about 8 years old and started with Vampire: The Masquerade. That was over 20 years ago! I've been playing ever since and DM'ing for over 10 years.

How Gino runs games

D&D 5E is my game of choice, and I've been playing/running it for several years. I enjoy creating tough scenarios for my players to conquer. High stakes, and even higher rewards! My games are combat-focused, with difficult encounters. You will be downed, and you may very well die...but hopefully not! It's a meat grinder, but I err on the side of the players. The goal isn't to kill your characters, but to make the combat meaningful. Fun is always the #1 priority for D&D.

I deal with rules issues by...

I like to play Rules as Written, with some homebrew, so players know what to expect coming into my games. If someone makes a mistake due to not knowing/misinterpreting a rule, I err on the side of the player in the moment. We would then discuss and clarify the rules after the encounter/session.

My games focus on...

Combat. I find it to be most enjoyable and hope that you do, too!

Rules are...

1. Respect your fellow player at all times. 2. No use of slurs or other intentionally offensive language. 3. Absolutely no ERP/Romance. 4. Bring any concerns about me, or your fellow players, directly to me. Be discreet, I would prefer to not call anyone out in front of others. Exceptions may apply.

I love it when a player

Thinks outside the box. Finding new ways to apply their skills and attributes, or spells and abilities, always makes for a more fun experience.

I think metagaming...

Is ill-advised. It takes the joy of discovery out of the game. You may look up a stat block and think it gives you an edge, but it won't in my games. Monsters are customized. The standard 5E goblin could be stronger or weaker, or have different abilities. The stat block won't do you much good.

I think min/maxing...

Perfectly fine. Whatever way you like to make your character is okay with me. We're all trying to have fun, a player min/maxing isn't taking anything away from another player.
