About me
The first game I ever played, I DMed 4e and my friends fell asleep at the table. I was crushed that I couldn't make it fun. The next time I DMed though, I was in college, the whole table rocketed through an 8-hour adventure in one sitting, fueled by loud banter and imagination. It cemented some of my longest-lasting friendships and fondest memories. A few years later, playing roleplaying games online kept me and my family in touch (and sane) through the pandemic, and we've kept it up to this day. I've been playing roleplaying games for a little over 10 years, and the whole time I've been working to make every session memorable.
GM Style
I love humorous roleplay and bantering. I feel that the epic and ultra serious tone of fantasy novels and tv often doesn't transfer well to rpgs, so I think it's best to keep it light in general. However, I'll often throw in a splash of horror or tragedy to create memorable story moments. I try to keep my games comfortable and inviting for everyone. I encourage a lot of teamwork and provide a lot of advice, especially about rules and in-game lore that can be difficult to juggle. I don't pull punches in combat, but I'm usually good at creating balanced encounters. When players are interested in tactical decision making, I can really ramp up the challenge.

I don’t play D&D much, as it can feel intimidating to learn all the rules and “be good” at roleplaying. However, Chris is very welcoming of beginners and is good at accommodating different skill levels while still maintaining a fun game. He can GM a variety of games, like one-time sessions or a full campaign. It’s clear Chris knows the rules well and can guide new players, as well as support games for seasoned players. He has a lot of neat visual aids like maps, minis, etc. and uses music and voices to set the mood. It’s obvious he enjoys what he does.
Very good world building skills. Everything makes sense lore wise and is very fun to explore and find out. Very good at giving the players puzzels and combat that is fun and solvable for the party (even if it does take some thinking). I enjoyed being GM by this guy and will try to get it to happen again.
Chris is the reason one of my friends got into Dungeons and Dragons and we're talking about getting some other friends together for a campaign because of his experience! Chris does a great job creating opportunities for every player to shine so if you love combat, he makes sure there's a hard fight for you to own or if your player is more stealthy he'll make sure there's a situation to sneak and scout out the boss's lair. My character in the campaign was a sorcerer who pretty much had all his points in social checks so I wasn't the best in early level fights or stealth checks but I was able to convince a king to allow us safe passage through his lands and trust us with one of his prisoners and we avoided a huge combat encounter and I appreciated the chance for my character to shine. The campaign also ended with special decisions for all of our characters to get to choose their own path for after the campaign that felt really personal to our party and the things we'd focused on throughout the story so I appreciate his work to design those too. I recommend Chris as a game master to anyone looking for an incredible story or looking for unique challenges for their characters!
Chris is an extremely thoughtful GM. My first experience with him was actually with a customized set of game rules that he designed. I was hooked. He has since DMed for me using Fantasy Flight's Star Wars rule set and 5e. He is extremely attentive to his players and what they want to get out of any given adventure. What I think stands out about his campaigns is the way he helps develop my characters' abilities and backstories. After 7-8 years of TTRPGs, two of my all-time favorite characters came from campaigns that he ran. Cannot recommend him highly enough!
Chris is a great DM! Our first campaign together was my first time ever playing D&D and Chris introduced each rule clearly and patiently. Even when the rules weren't totally clear, his rulings were fair and promoted a fun atmosphere. It's not a surprise he has a background in teaching! Chris also does a great job world building. His plots are intricate without being overwhelming and it's easy to get drawn in by his detailed descriptions of characters and environments. Chris also knows a lot of systems other than D&D and I'm excited to learn those from him too!
