About Chaos Mistress

After experiencing AD&D in my teenage years, I began playing D&D 5e in 2021. I began running games after about 6 months of playing, and have since run several campaigns that have lasted a few years. I have also run a number of 2 session games designed for brand new players, many of whom have then continued to play on my longer campaigns. I have run games both online and in person. D&D is my passion, and ensuring my players have a fun, safe gaming experience is my priority.

I became a GM because

My friends and I really wanted to play, but were having trouble le finding a GM. I’d always known in the back of my mind that I’d wanted to try running games, so I stepped up. I’ve never looked back.

People are always surprised when I tell them

That I’m Scottish because I speak with an English accent close to RP. I did take up the bagpipes when I was 13, but had to give up as I just didn’t have the lung capacity, my neighbours are very grateful for that!

How Chaos Mistress runs games

I run high fantasy 1-3 shots and longer term campaigns, mostly in homebrew settings, but with the standard 5e species and classes. You can expect a balance of roleplay and combat, suitable for both complete beginners and more experienced players. You backstory will be woven into the plot, making the game personal for every player. Experience exploratory and heroic adventure with twists, puzzles and surprises with a bit of dungeon delving. My priority is that my players have fun, and you re guaranteed to find laughter at my table, with a few poignant moments thrown in. As well as my organised games, I’m more than happy to consider party bookings for special occasions or custom sessions. Please don’t hesitate to ask if you have any questions.

Thinking what would be fun for me, if I were a player. I put a lot of time and effort into it, and like to make sure my players feel their backstories are being included, and that the decisions they make really impact the game world.

Rules are...

Guidelines. I follow them fairly closely, but am not unwilling to bend them. I like to reward great ideas and thinking outside the box, even if the rules as written don’t allow it.

I’ve run one to one sessions, and also for a group of 7. This has taught me that my ideal group size is 5! My games are filled with laughter, but there are plenty of serious moments, too. I like my tables to be respectful and inclusive. I run high fantasy, though have dipped my toe into horror. My long term campaigns tend to last years rather than months. If you want to really be invested in your character and their story and development, I’m the GM for you.
