About Caleb
Hobbyist performer, writing enthusiast and big time nerd, my greatest joy in life is getting lost in creating epic fantasy worlds with other performative, fantasy nuts. My games are focused on moment to moment character actions, filled with juicy descriptions, fun antics, and a healthy dose of improv. I encourage my players to be creative, to describe what their characters do in detail, and love running games for both new and veteran players alike.

I became a GM because
Because I loved playing in other peoples games, and wanted to provide that same space for others. There’s nothing like building a world for and with your players, then reveling in the interactions everyone has as that world is explored.
My favorite system of all Time is
D&D 5e, I just love the fantasy genre that D&D encompasses and the rules it provides to flesh out a fantasy world, while also giving enough looseness to let creativity flourish. I really want to check out some other systems too, and am looking forward to when I get opportunities to.
When I'm not running games I'm...
Watching videos about D&D, listening to Critical Role or NADDPOD, or just daydreaming about one of the many D&D characters I would love to play someday.
How Caleb runs games
- My focus is making the most out of the moment to moment gameplay, and living in the session with my players. - Encouraging players to bring their stories and ideas to the game; it’s always funner when the whole group is performing and invested. - Exciting, off the cuff stories > tightly woven, perfectly structured narratives. - More combat than not, it’s unlikely that we’ll go more than 1 session without combat, at the least. - I use a mix of battle maps and “theatre of the mind” for combat. I use Owlbear Rodeo for battlemaps, and they serve more as a visual reference than tactical tool. - I’m a “roll with the punches” DM. Things can get loose, and rules can be bent or broken, though I always try to keep things fair. - I will make mistakes, but when they happen I will course correct and keep the ball rolling, and I have the same mentality for my players as well. - My commitment is to create fun for everyone at the (proverbial) table. If that isn’t happening, I’ll work with everyone to figure out how to solve the issue.

I deal with rules issues by...
Addressing them asap, while interrupting session flow as little as possible. If it’s something that can be rectified quickly, we’ll do it right then. If it’s something more complicated, we’ll go with what feels right in the moment, then check it after the session, and adjust going forward.
My games focus on...
Moment to moment character beats in a session over doggedly following an overarching, preplanned narrative. The funnest part about TTRPG’s is getting to impact the game world and story as you're playing the game, so what we do at the table, during our sessions, takes precedence over everything else.
Rules are...
The structure that makes our game… an actual playable game, and not just a conversation where we pretend to be Elves and Kobolds. That structure is important, but it should never get in the way of the table enjoying the game; if it does, then that portion should be adjusted or removed.
Caleb's ideal table
I want people that are looking for a fun, chill game; people that are open to roleplaying, getting into their character, and like to bring fun ideas and stories. I want players that are invested and enjoy getting into some heavier moments occasionally, but like fun, often goofy vibes most of the time. Players that are friendly Players that are creative and story driven, like “exciting” more than “tactical” combat, and are happy to roll with things is what I’m after.
