About Gerald
A writer, poet, and anthropologist, I love to introduce new players to the fantastical worlds I grew up in and love even more building new worlds with players of all experience levels (including no experience!) DMing is a passion of mine, something I am always striving to improve at: the physical world around me is littered with sourcebooks, notebooks, guides, print-outs, Post-Its, dice, half-painted miniatures, and other paraphernalia related to this incredible hobby. All of my games are LGBTQ+ friendly, and my tables are safe spaces where everyone is welcome, so long as they believe that everyone is welcome.

I became a GM because
I love the stories that can be told in TTRPGs, and I love how excited people get when things start to click for them.
I got started GMing...
When the Power Rangers TTRPG was announced, I wanted to jump on it right out of the gate. It's always been one of my favorite properties, and my mind was alight with possibilities!
My favorite books are
The "Star Wars: Republic Commando" series of books by Karen Traviss. I've been getting into audiobooks a lot recently, though, and have really fallen in love with the "Iron Widow" series by Xiran Jay Zhao and the "Beneath Earth and Sky" series by Rebecca Roanhorse.
How Gerald runs games
I love nothing more than to sit down and have a fun time alongside my players. At my table, there will be jokes, above-table talk, lots of laughter, some terrible voice acting attempts (just wait till you hear my Zordon voice!), and more, all driven by my personal desire to make sure my players have a wonderful time.

When it comes to voices
My voices are terrible and messy and I usually forget the voice I was doing by the time that character shows up again an hour later. But, I love to do them. I'm cringy as all get out, and I do not care.
I prep by
I spend about an hour before session time going over notes and getting things in order for the upcoming session. I make a list of things I want to achieve during that session, including a nice break there in the middle, and keep it loose to allow freedom for things to immediately veer off wildly.
Rules are...
Rules are a framework for adjudicating playground wars of "I shot you with my laser gun!" "Nuh-uh! I blocked it with my laser-blocking shield and it bounced back to you!" and similar play. It gives guidance, but no ruleset could ever account for how weird y'all are. And rules were made to be broken.
Gerald's ideal table
I feel like the players that've found the most success at my tables are those that are invested in everyone at the table having a good time and not just themselves. Players that don't mind cracking jokes (even at their own expense), talk above table, and just being a big goofball will do well with me. New players also have a great time at my tables. I have a lot of experience introducing new players to games, and a lot of that has to do with my methods. I try my absolute best not to overwhelm players, to introduce them to rules gradually and purposefully, and to give them opportunities to succeed.

I am for a vibe that's...
Easy-going and ready to have a good time full of laughter and excitement.
I love it when a player
Makes a moment for themselves to shine in a wildly unexpected way.
My table is not the place for...
"Hardcore" elements like exacting ammunition tracking, overly "serious" play where everyone at the table is expected to act as if we're in a life-or-death situation, or people who think that their lived experience is the only one that matters and are hateful to anyone who changes that ideology.
