About Jacob

Hello everyone! My name is Jacob and I am hoping you will join me on an adventure! I have been a GM for the last 7 years, and have been playing Table Top Games just as long. My preferred system is Pathfinder 2e & Starfinder 2e, but I've also dabbled a bit with FFG Star Wars RPG. I cut my teeth GMing on Starfinder 1e as it was my first TTRPG experience, but fell in love with the 2e system Paizo introduced and pretty much haven't looked back. I also enjoy board games such as Descent, Mansions of Madness, Twilight Imperium, and Wingspan to name a few. I draw inspiration for my various games from many of the popular pop culture movies including LOTR, GOT, Star Wars, Star Trek, and Foundation but I also include my love of video game titles like Divinity Original Sin (1&2) & Dragon Age. I will run all of my games on Foundry VTT and utilize my discord for our voice chats. Thank you for reading and hope to be gaming with you soon!

I got started GMing...

My first TTRPG was Starfinder (first edition) and fell in love with the hobby so much I started GMing. I haven't looked back since!

My favorite shows/movies are

Favorite Show: Avatar the Last Airbender See Foundation Andor Star Wars Rebels Star Wars Clone Wars Star Wars Bad Batch Game of Thrones The Dragon Prince Favorite Movies: Star Wars Rogue One Star Wars 1-6 (I'll watch 7/8/9 if I have to) Lord of the Rings

My favorite system of all Time is

Pathfinder 2e system. I love the three action economy and how all the math works together. I was overjoyed when they brought the rule set to Starfinder as well.

How Jacob runs games

I like to run a good mix of Roleplaying with tactical combat when its time for aggressive negotiations. I am not a GM who will bring a lot of puzzles to the table, but I'll throw a riddle out there every once in a while. I love helping build characters with my players and weaving their backstory into the carefully crafted adventures we go on together.

I prep by

I prep by listening to thematic music and trying to find ways to improve the story with characters backstories.

Rules are...

Rules are important, but not the most important thing at the table. I typically lean to rules as written, but if something doesn't make sense story wise I like to work with the table to get the best outcome for the story.

When it comes to voices

I am really bad at voices... sorry folks! I do try to have voices - but they come and go

Jacob's ideal table

I typically like to keep table size at five players max. That helps keep every session full and also doesn't feel like a crowd when everyone has something they want to do in character. You will fit in well if you are laid back and just like playing table top games. I enjoy chatting with my players about character builds, rules, and all things nerdy. You will find your time more enjoyable at my table if you bring a character who buys into the adventure path you signed up for theme.

I love it when a player

I love it when a player is committed to playing their character the way they perceive them. It is very rewarding to see a player make character decisions not based on what the player would do, but what their character would do. (just don't be THAT guy about it... you know who I am talking about)

I think metagaming...

I think metagaming... happens at tables all the time, even when we don't mean to. Separating player knowledge from character knowledge can be a really hard thing to do. However, I think most of the time not metagaming makes the experience more enjoyable for everyone at the table.

I think min/maxing...

I think min/maxing... is totally fine! It's not the most important part of playing TTRPGs, but I love a good build as much as the next person.
