About BaronBattleBread

Hello, it's me, a Forever GM. I have been running games for over a decade and have been figuring out online ttrpgs for the better part of 4 years now. I enjoy telling the story, and letting players attempt wild and crazy shenanigans just to see what they can get away with. I've been informed my GM style is "fast and frenetic over grit and structure", since the ultimate goal is to enjoy it. I always try to reward creativity in an authentic way and do my best to engage player ideas and direction with an open mind. I know im not perfect My longest running campaign, in the homebrewed cityscape of Wregate, has enjoyed nearly weekly sessions for over just over 2 years now.

I became a GM because

Oh man, where do i start. I wanted to roll dice and make some friends. Which lead to a group which lead to hosting which lead to making friends which lead to a series of events that blew up the whole friend group So now i GM online so i can go move in with my wife. :D great fun

How BaronBattleBread runs games

Milestone leveling. Narrative, but loose with rules: preferring to reward creativity over stifling imagination in favor of blanket text. I'm accepting for all styles of player: from unsure beginners to power gaming veterans to the wild shenanigans of Forever GMs and even the busted Homebrewers.

My favorite trope is...

Traps. I love good traps in dungeons. the easy to spot, the nearly impossible.. one of my favorites was a home alone kobold trap, ankles locked in a staircase- bucket of water- bag of flour- fire bomb, that baked the player into a nice fluffy biscuit and then a swarm of ants was released.

BaronBattleBread's ideal table

My tables are pretty casual overall, i try to not let it go too long, but some people are very talkative. I do my best to focus on the game, keep people moving.

I think metagaming...

is experienced based. new players google stat blocks cause of anxiety of the unknown. average players try and tell others how to take their turns. experienced players know the tricks and stats and weaknesses of modules. not everyone can separate player knowledge and character knowledge. it happens.

I think min/maxing...

is part of the game. some people just really, really want to be something besides themselves. max strength barbarians who can rip arms off and nothing else or rogues with negative dexterity for the laugh, ive experienced them all. its nothing more than a character focus.
