About Maddi

I got my first taste of TTRPGs in high school, then fell in love with Critical Role and have been playing games ever since! TTRPGs are a fantastic creative tool that brings people together to explore both a fantastical world and, through collaboration with players and under the guidance of a game master, learn more about themselves. While I mostly run DnD 5e, I also frequently run games in other systems, such as Call of Cthulhu and Daggerheart. My goal in running games is to provide my players with an experience they can get invested in and excited for, where their actions and choices have tangible reactions to the worlds they find themselves in.

When I'm not running games I'm...

Painting miniatures, playing videogames, making music, playing magic: the gathering, spending time with my cat Theo, and making arts and crafts!

How Maddi runs games

I find my GMing style to be more on the narrative side. My goal is to tell a good story through collaborative storybuilding with the players to create a grand narrative. I enjoy running games that both use pre-written material and homebrew, and anywhere in between. Combat serves as a mechanical device to further the story along. By creating dynamic scenes and vivid worldscapes to play in, a more intense scene or encounter provides players a chance to flex their skills and creativity. Using my background in theater, I find pre-written modules like a stageplay script. We tell the same stories over and over again, using various creative means for the love of the story. Every time the story is told, the magic is revived in a new form to suit the narrative direction being told. In GMing, I strive to use roleplay and storytelling, using the various systems as a structural means to create a unique experience every time!
