About Eric Weubbe
My name is Eric, and I've been playing Dungeons & Dragons for nearly a decade. I first discovered the game around a table with friends, gathering in a hot garage to slay monsters, attempt questionable accents, and embark on unforgettable adventures. Before long, I found myself drawn behind the screen, eager to build worlds and tell stories of my own. Since becoming a Game Master in 2019, I've run weekly campaigns for groups of friends, including a six-year homebrew campaign that reached level 20 and a complete playthrough of Out of the Abyss. I've also run adventures from Curse of Strahd, Call of the Netherdeep, and Rime of the Frostmaiden, along with numerous homebrew one-shots for both veteran and first-time players.

When I'm not running games I'm...
playing games! Or working on them. I'm a gamer at heart and a software engineer by trade.
How Eric Weubbe runs games
Every group is different, so I strive to build campaigns around the players at my table. I enjoy creating immersive narratives where your choices matter, and your characters have room to grow. My background as a software engineer has also shaped how I design encounters and adventures. I enjoy creating well balanced challenges that reward teamwork, creativity, and clever problem solving while ensuring each player has opportunities to contribute. My games often feature physically built 3D combat maps, miniatures, and effects that I stream live over Discord in lieu of VTTs and 2D maps. The "Rule of Cool" and the rules as written don't have to be enemies. I believe the rules provide a fair foundation for everyone at the table, but I'm always willing to reward creative ideas when they make the game more exciting and memorable. I believe consistency is one of the most important qualities a Game Master can have. When my players set aside an evening for adventure, they can count on me to be prepared and ready to deliver a memorable session. Above all else, this is a game. It should be fun!

I deal with rules issues by...
hearing out the player contesting the ruling. I'll re-evaluate my ruling based on the discussion. Sometimes I'll change the ruling, sometimes I won't. At the end of the day it's my responsibility to be the rules arbiter and keep the game moving in a timely and fair manner.
My favorite trope is...
the tragic villain.
My games focus on...
player driven narrative. I believe all three D&D pillars are essential for facilitating this; roleplay to allow everyone to step into their character, combat for resolving those tense and climactic moments, and exploration to facilitate the pursuit of character interests.
Eric Weubbe's ideal table
Players that fit well at my table are players that genuinely care about their characters. I take narrative and roleplay seriously, and players that understand what their characters want and how they fit into the world will have a better time in my games. While that all sounds very solemn, rest assured the vibe at my tables is quite varied. I do my best to guide the table vibe towards the tone of the in-game moment. I'm all for in-character tomfoolery and chaos, I just think it's even more compelling and fun when it comes from a solid character foundation. I also love a profound emotional moment where the stakes are high and your character's true colors can really shine. Beyond that, players that understand their characters from a mechanical perspective will also have fun at my tables. I'm more than happy to teach the rules to new players, but I expect you to meet me half-way and learn and adapt as we play. When it comes to combat, I like to use the fun part of the monster manual and push the limits of encounter balancing. Players that enjoy building mechanically strong characters will relish testing their might against the adversaries I conjure up. You don't need to be a min-maxer, but you should understand, or be willing to learn, how the elements of your character sheet work together and what your character is good at.
