How Arcanum Malefica runs games

I've run the DM-TTRPG gambit of deep, tactical maps to rule of cool theatre of the mind. I like to adapt to player needs and thus can be flexible in my approach. However, I'm at my best when I'm weaving a mystery, setting emotional stakes, and helping the player to interface with the world I've created. This may not work well with those who are rules lawyers or focused on exact play. It's not that I don't follow the rules, but ultimately, I think the best experience for a TTRPG is one that inspires them. I also don't really take myself too seriously where I often throw jokes out there and don't really mind if you don't know the names of the hundreds of NPCs I've created provided you are invested in the story.
