About Celine

My name is Celine, I'm a transfem so first and foremost I am very minority friendly and always willing to adapt to any needs for the table. I am a huge dork, I love all sorts of media from fantasy to horror to science fiction though I have a particular love for the Halo franchise and vampire fiction. I've been writing and DMing ever since I was a kid, starting with online games well over a decade ago. To this day I play with friends and family and run games for some communities when asked, both online and in-person. Over time I've learned a plethora of systems and now I've been to college for creative writing and I believe myself to be well-prepared to DM your next game. Personally I have a no-AI art policy for my own work although I am not an artist myself so typically any resources used will be from game assets, community assets, or other resources available. All communications will be via Discord and games will be done on FoundryVTT if applicable.

I became a GM because

I just had so many ideas in my head! I'd write one game, start playing, then have another idea and play that with another group. It got to a point where one year I was DMing almost 10 games at once, each with their own histories, lore, and players.

I got started GMing...

when I was really, really young. I was one of those kids that did MMO roleplays and me and my friends would have these really intricate stories and I usually put the settings together. After that, I had a long history with PbP games, and then started DMing for those friends when I got into D&D!

When I'm not running games I'm...

reading, writing, or sometimes playing games with friends. I love reading all sorts of genres and have a nice blend of nonfiction and fiction under my belt.

How Celine runs games

My style changes depending on the system and player expectations but I love a good mix between roleplay and strategic combat. I try not to railroad players unless they need it and rather prefer player interaction with the world and coming up with their own ideas to conquer the challenges I give.

I deal with rules issues by...

siding with the player unless I'm 100% certain or it detracts from the fun of the table. After the game, I will double check that rule for future reference and inform the party of my findings before the next session.

I prep by

Writing the world first. I always try to give objectives and things like that but I do my absolute best not to overplan for a session and end up railroading. My games are always character driven and I will always work hard to make the campaign go wherever you take it!

Rules are...

A tool for a fun experience! I heavily stand by Rule of Cool and any other on-the-fly alterations that allow for players to have fun. So long as it doesn't detract from another player's abilities or fun, go for it!

Celine's ideal table

Above everything, my games are character driven. That does mean that players that get in character will have a much better time playing than players that don't. I also always foster an inclusive environment and have zero tolerance for any bigotry, especially towards other players. I would like to add, however, that depending on the system and setting a lot of my games touch on some darker, more serious topics and thus the tone of my games may not be as comedy-oriented as some people prefer.

Character and story driven narratives that takes itself and your characters seriously

I love it when a player

Comes to me with ideas! One of the best benefits of playing with me is that I don't write sessions in bulk, and I am always willing to collaborate with my players to create the game that they want to play!

I think it's a red flag when players...

play my games like a video game. I try to keep everything as sensible and immersive as possible and the hardest thing for me is when I have a player that does seemingly random things and is never in character.
