About AnyaTheGM

Anya | Lead Storyteller at AMJR-GAMES 👋 Over 130 Sessions Hosted | 5.0 Rating I don’t just GM; I live and breathe the story. In my first year behind the screen, I’ve hosted over 130 sessions, proving that obsession beats "casual" play every time. I’m an Avernus specialist with over 85 sessions in the Nine Hells. I’m currently guiding my 5th and 6th groups through the module, so I know every devilish twist by heart—my eyes are always on your characters, not a rulebook. When I’m not behind the GM screen, you’ll find me on Xbox playing Baldur’s Gate 3, Halo, or Overwatch—or maybe just relaxing in Stardew Valley. I’m a total techhead who keeps my life on Google so I can hop between Linux distros for fun, and I bring that same streamlined, lag-free energy to my games. I’ve built a seamless ecosystem of Google Meet hubs and Lore Wikis so the tech stays invisible and the "Rule of Cool" stays front and center. After 45 sessions across my legacy campaigns in Nymera, I’ve launched my newest project: The Isle of Hesperos. This is a true, persistent sandbox where your choices leave a permanent mark on the world map. I’m not your adversary; I’m the narrator cheering you on—much like I cheer on the Edmonton Oilers (loyalty matters, even in a rough season!). I prioritise fast, direct communication. I became a GM because

I love the chess match of planning a world and then shocking my players with a twist they never saw coming. I realized I could turn my obsession with organization and tech into a professional studio—making sure every session is worth the price of admission.

The three words my players would use to describe me are...

Unscripted, Energetic, and Enabling. I thrive on the chaos of the table and love nothing more than when a player’s wild plan forces me to toss my notes out the window just to see what happens next.

When I'm not running games I'm...

Watching the Edmonton Oilers (loyalty is a lifestyle) or on my Xbox playing BG3, Halo, or Stardew Valley. I’m also a total techhead who hops between Linux distros for fun.

How AnyaTheGM runs games

I’m the kind of GM who is constantly rooting for your characters. I’m not a rigid rule-bot or a voice actor putting on a show; I’m just here to keep the story moving and make sure your biggest, wildest ideas actually happen.

I prep by

Setting the stage for you to wreck it. I love planning out lore surprises and world-shaking twists just to see the look on my players' faces when they walk right into a trap or a massive revelation. I build the world, but you drive the story.

Rules are...

There to serve the story, not the other way around. I’m not a human encyclopedia of rulebooks; I’m a storyteller who prioritizes the "Rule of Cool". If you want to try something epic, we’ll make it happen first and worry about the exact page number later.

When it comes to voices

I focus on the energy and the atmosphere rather than being a professional voice actor. I’m more of a narrator who keeps the pace cinematic and the table vibe supportive.

AnyaTheGM's ideal table

My games are for the bold, the curious, and the team players. I’m looking for players who aren't afraid to take the wheel and drive the story off a cliff just to see what’s at the bottom. Whether you’ve been rolling dice for decades or you just finished Baldur’s Gate 3 and want to see what the real thing is like, you have a seat here.

I love it when a player

Actually uses the environment to do something ridiculous. If you want to swing from a chandelier or use a frozen fish as a weapon, I’m probably going to give you advantage just for making me laugh.

I think it's a red flag when players...

Try to "outsmart" the story by metagaming or looking up the monster stats under the table. I put a lot of work into the custom twists to keep you surprised. If you're trying to read the script instead of living the story, you're going to spoil the "shock" factor for everyone else.

My table is not the place for...

Big egos or people who take things too seriously. We’re here to roll dice, tell a cool story, and maybe yell at a screen together when a Nat 1 happens. If you’re a team player who can laugh at a bad roll, you’re my kind of person.
