About Anancat
Hi all, my name is Ana and I've been playing ttRPGs for over a decade. I started off as many do, in high school crowded around a table with my friends, excitedly shouting "Fireball!" and eagerly rolling a handful of dice to add up the damage. Even now, after so many years, I still maintain that enthusiasm and sheer joy that role-playing brings me. I never treat GMing as a job or a duty - I'm always giving my all to make games fun, enjoyable, and most of all a good time for everyone at my table. To make sure of that, I don't tolerate any hate speech or vitriol at my tables. Everyone is welcome and supported, and my goal is to create an inclusive place where people feel safe to be emotional and invest into the story we're creating together. My biggest strength and focus is always going to be roleplaying over combat or rolls. I love creating NPCs with vibrant personalities that have actual depth to them. I love inspiring players to create characters that have stories to them, and then use those characters to tell a new story collaboratively, together. If you're the type of person who's always wanted to have the space and support to explore character arcs, plot lines, and satisfying endings, then I'm the GM for you! My DMs are always open for questions, concerns, or private bookings.

I got started GMing...
Mainly to give my friends a break! Then I discovered that I really enjoyed it, and here I am.
When I'm not running games I'm...
Playing in them! I also LARP, write, and read. I'm currently working on a fantasy YA novel that I hope to publish eventually.
How Anancat runs games
I don't expect theater-level acting from my players but I do expect a baseline level of roleplay and in-character thinking that provides an additional layer beyond just the mechanical game. I feel like I have a good mix of combat and roleplay opportunities but I don't make my combats strategy intensive or high-death stakes. Mostly I just want to collaboratively tell a story that is unique to the players in that game and can't be repeated.

I once ran a session...
Where the player's job was to go find a cow that had escaped its pasture. This led to them fighting a manticore (somehow) and the best line I've ever made a GM: "Would you like me to moo for you?"
My games focus on...
Vibrant NPCs, player backstories and choices, and making sure the world feels alive. Oh, and making sure everyone has a good time!
Rules are...
Guidelines for storytelling. When it comes to co.bat, I'll follow them, but the story always comes first and good roleplaying deserves rewards.
Anancat's ideal table
My tables are light-hearted and silly out of character, but emotional and dramatic in character. I love players who are willing to make bold choices and jump into the abyss together, ready to find out what's in store.

I love it when a player
Makes decisions based off their backstory, or their emotional resonance to a story beat. Don't always focus on the optimal outcome - go with your heart!
My table is not the place for...
Gritty survival games. When I run D&D, I'm running a game where a powerful story backs up the power fantasy the system promises. You may not start out a hero, but you'll end the game as one.
