About Alex
Hello everyone! My name is Alex, and you can call me Panda if you would like. I’ve been a DM for 7 years. I am called by many titles: Your Mythmaker, The Duke of Doom, Weaver of Woe and Whimzy, Bringer of Consequences. But, for you, your Dungeon Master will suffice. I am a storyteller with a myriad of talents that I like to use in my games. I’m an artist, illustrator, animator, voice actor, and writer, just to name a few. I like to run my games with theatrical flair and immersion. I use background music, sound effects, and narrate pre-written descriptions to set the scene, invoking all 5 senses as often as I can. I utilize my voice acting abilities to add richness to NPC’s. I also focus on character narrative and development, and making the player feel like they are part of the world. My table is a stage for my players to fully play and develop their characters. Character choices shape the outcome of events and change the world around them. I like to take the approach where the player will learn more about the lore of the world and the background narrative as they explore. If the characters stumble upon something lore significant, I allow them to roll to see if they know anything about what they find. Pieces are given to players to form their own connections about histories and figures from the past, and quests are provided should the player want to dive deeper. I am friendly with the following communities: LGBTQ+, Neurodivergent, Disabled, Furry Fandom.

I started running games because...
I had a whole world full of stories that I wanted to share with other people. I started my own homebrew campaign from scratch, not fully knowing all the rules for the system (D&D5e, I know the rules now). And I am still running the same game 7 years later with dedicated players who can't get enough.
My favorite books are
Alice in Wonderland, Dante's Inferno, I Have No Mouth and I Must Scream, Call of Cthulhu, At the Mountains of Madness, The Color out of Space, The Shadow Over Innsmouth, The Willows, House on the Borderland, The Red Tower, Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy
My favorite shows/movies are
Angel's Egg, Nightmare Before Christmas, Beetlejuice, Susperia 1977, Beauty and the Beast, Brother Bear, Song of the Sea, Alien, The Dark Crystal, Labyrinth, The Princess Bride, Nosferatu (All 3), Fantasia + Fantasia 2000, Blade Runner + 2049, Del Toro's Frankenstine, Ed Edd n Eddy, Some Like It Hot
How Alex runs games
I like to run my games with theatrical flair and immersion. I use background music, sound effects, and read aloud pre-written descriptions to set the scene, invoking all 5 senses as often as I can. I also focus on character narrative and development, and making the player feel like they are a part of the world they reside in. I utilize my voice acting abilities to help add richness to NPC’s, and encourage character interaction. My table is a stage for my players to fully get into their character and develop them as the story progresses. Character choices shape the outcome of events, and change the world around them in all kinds of ways. I primarily stick to the majority of the rules but balance things out with rule of cool. I like to modify some specific rules to help with quality of life for the game, such as simplifying encumbrance. I however do try to add some grounded realism to rulings, like when you are attempting to make a long jump, you have to run in a straight line to maintain momentum.

My games focus on...
Character and narrative development within a dynamic, reactive world. Rules and rolls are used to help facilitate the story, but it's all dependent on the players and their characters.
Rules are...
necessary but are not the end-all, be-all. Sometimes the DM/GM just has to make a different call. It's important to know when to use them, when to bend them, and when to break them.
When it comes to voices
I am, in fact, a voice actor, so I do enjoy putting my skills to work. I love to make a different voice for all of my NPCs.
Alex's ideal table
My table has roleplay, and I love it when people come to the table ready for it. The roleplay is meant to be more serious, with heavy emphasis on playing out as your character. This does not mean that the character necessarily has to be serious, but the intention of how you portray your character should. Please remember that we are all here to have fun and tell a story together. With this in mind, here are some conduct expectations that will be utilized at the table. Share the stage and spotlight - Make sure to give other players chances to speak, actively try to include other players in most scenes. On the flip side, if someone is having an important moment for their character, make sure to let them have their moment. Be polite, kind, and courteous - We are all adults, you will be expected to act like one. Allow others chances to speak, and make decisions on their own. If someone asks for assistance, be willing to offer help to the best of your ability. Value our time - Since this is a paid game, you are expected to focus and devote your attention to the game for the duration of the session. If you are more than 15 min late to a session without any communication to the DM, you will be considered absent and will not be getting any refund. We will take breaks when needed, please be mindful of break durations. Keep all distractions to a minimum, and do not distract other players as it slows momentum of the story and kills the mood of the session. If you continuously do not respect the group/DM’s time, you will be removed from the game.

If you're into ___, you're going to love my table
Role play, in-depth characters, detailed descriptions, detailed NPCs, gothic aesthetics, grounded realism balanced with high fantasy, contrast of woe & whimsy, dynamic responsive worlds, deep lore, anthropology, atmosphere & mood music, Bloodborne, Darksouls, animalfolk, voice acting
I love it when a player
creates a detailed backstory that fits in with the world. I also love it when a player can play off of other characters in a scene. I enjoy when players can explore darker themes while balancing it out with lighter themes to provide contrast. I also REALLY love it when a player takes notes.
I think min/maxing...
can be alright as long as the rest of the table also engages with it. But I also am alright with max/mining. Cus' let's face it, it can be absolutely hilarious in the right setting. Creativity is what matters most for me and my table.
