About Alex Lantz
🕯️ Hi, I’m Alex. I enjoy patiently listening to how players think, react, and talk their way through slow-burn mystery games set in small towns with secrets. My games sometimes include supernatural elements and unsettling moments, but player agency always comes first. I’m most interested in how characters interpret incomplete information and what they choose to prioritize under pressure. 🗝️ My tables are roleplay-heavy and combat-light, focused on atmosphere, character interaction, and consequences rather than performance or spectacle. 📼 If you’d like a sense of how my games feel in practice, here’s a short, unedited clip from an actual play session: https://youtu.be/3kQ_RMGdwGg

I got started GMing...
Running games became a way to explore situations without clean answers and see how different people respond to them. I love watching players think, talk through, make decisions.
My favorite books are
set in small towns - cozy from a distance familiar places, that hide complicated truths.
How Alex Lantz runs games
My GM style centers on player decisions under pressure and the narrative consequences of dice rolls rather than fixed outcomes. I value thoughtful roleplay, discussion, and creative problem-solving over performance or theatrics. These are not power fantasy games - characters exist within larger systems, and choices carry lasting consequences. Combats are used to apply pressure, introduce consequences, and move the story forward.

My games focus on...
Investigation, discussion, and decision-making in uncertain situations.
Rules are...
Rules are there to support the situation and players' decisions. Consistency and meaning matter more than strict following the rules as written
Alex Lantz's ideal table
My ideal table is made up of curious players who enjoy social interaction and creative problem-solving. They are comfortable taking risks, including failure, when it leads to meaningful and memorable stories. The overall vibe is focused but relaxed: thoughtful play, respect for each other’s ideas, and an interest in grounded stakes over epic heroics or power fantasy.

I think metagaming...
Tends to break immersion. It blurs the line between player knowledge and character decisions.
I think min/maxing...
Is fine, especially if it supports the story and table dynamics. I am comfortable with optimized characters, but it isn't the focus of play.
