About GM Ellie

Hello there! My name is Ellie. I am 24 years old from Israel and I use she/her pronouns. I've been a hardcore 7th sea fan ever since 2017. I've GMed a long 2-year 7th sea epic campaign which ended on a full note, and am currently running several 7th Sea games as well. My games are a mix of epic, dark yet hopeful themes filled with mystery and crazy twists. I definitely try to give my players a unique, fun experience with every session I run. As quite a sensitive person myself, I want my games to feel inclusive and safe. Communication is key with me. Since I am autistic, I may not always realize if/when I do something wrong or hurt someone. And since I am not a mind reader, and can't always tell what others are thinking and feeling, I do need others to communicate to me what they feel and if I do something wrong. I will stop what I'm doing, apologize immediately and we will think (privately or with the group) of a practical solution for us to solve this and for me to make up for what I did. The lines and veils section has my list of triggering topics I am fine/not fine with, and you are more than invited to tell me privately or tell the group what you're okay and not okay with seeing in the games. I hope to meet everyone soon and to have a fun and happy game community with yall! Ellie

How GM Ellie runs games

My style is more focused on planning and building-up tensions for epic RP-filled scenes. Fear not though, I do know how to improvise - some of the best plot twists and scenes happened because of my or another player's epic improvisation - but generally I am more of a planner of events. Your character can react however they want - you control them, after all! I like making my players' wishes for their characters come true, with a twist or a catch of mine to spice things up. Because of that, I enjoy talking to my players outside of sessions, to see what they like and what they want to see, and plan the best arcs and scenes to make the player satisfied and make their deepest narrative wishes come true! My biggest strength (and sometimes weakness) as a GM is my intricate planning of story arcs, twists and mixin' n' matching character hooks to be connected to each other, to the lore and world, and to other players and NPCs. I have often complex yet logical twists that I like to reveal slowly. In my games, I will plan it so that every character will have a part of their backstory relevant to the game, with a twist or two, and multiple ways for them to resolve the situation, so everything will be engaging and relevant for everyone, and that everyone will have a big juicy bone thrown to them to chew on! In my games, out of character, I just want to give my players a sense of friendship and family. I don't want them to feel like they're playing with a robot. I want them to feel like they're playing with a real human being that has a heart. I want them to feel good and welcome. It's the atmosphere of fun and good vibes that I wish to give my players in every game I run!

I deal with rules issues by...

I, and my players, retain the right to (not) deal with those who ruin the enjoyment in and especially out of character, or those who make people uncomfortable. I try to discuss and communicate with the players and hear them and myself out to make us more comfortable.

I once ran a session...

...Where one of the characters was fighting a warded Inquisitor on top of a Mayan pyramid, another was emotionally bonded and synchronized with a mountain-god-kaiju-monster and was controlling its movements, and the 3rd was fighting a god's avatar. All at the same time. It was epic.

When it comes to voices

I enjoy doing them! Am I the world champion of voices? Not necessarily, but my players can definitely tell which significant NPC is talking when I do their voices and accents. I love doing accents!

GM Ellie's ideal table

My ideal table is one where cooperation and collaboration thrives. It's a table where everyone is having fun and is happy (out of character) - invested in game time and talking to each other during and beyond the game :)
