About 2old4this
Newer to the DM side of D&D 5E. A few short campaigns under my belt. Been playing 5th edition since 2018. I love the unpredictability of the game.

I became a GM because
because I love creating worlds and history. Also I like playing multiple characters so GMing is perfect for that. I like making scenarios and seeing what players can come up with that I haven't thought of.
My favorite books are
The Lord of the Rings series, The Shannara series, The Red Rising Series.
When I'm not running games I'm...
being a husband and father. I enjoy family outings whenever possibly. We like to head out and explore the outdoors or find a cool museum or festival.
How 2old4this runs games
All pillars of D&D are enjoyable to me. I like making combats multilayered. It's not just about reducing enemies to 0 HP, having objectives and goals during a fight is important. Exploring a world and experiencing lore is something you'll get with me. And organic conversations with NPCs will flesh out a fun session. I do like making a linearly game where there is a central story for players to follow but I love incorporating player backstories. Discovering storylines along the way gets me as hyped as I hope it does my players.

I deal with rules issues by...
trying to make a fair decision on the spot. I'll take suggestions into consideration though.
My favorite trope is...
discovering you're the one chosen to save the world!
My games focus on...
making players feel their characters are heroes. I like high fantasy and escapism. I want a few hours in the week to not worry about actual real life.
2old4this's ideal table
I try to make the vibe of my table one of curiosity. Presenting scenarios the players want to find out more about and engage with. I run more linearly games so players will have more direction on progression. That doesn't mean players can't choose how to deal with what comes up but my table is not a sandbox where players aimlessly wonder around.

I love it when a player
tries to get all the other players involved. I love seeing roleplay between the player characters not prompted by the GM.
I think min/maxing...
is great if you know your game is going to be geared to one certain type of pillar (Combat, Exploration, Social). If the game is all about combat, go ahead and min/max for that. Or if you only want to be the best at that one thing. But know that you might miss out on other aspects of the game.
My perfect party mix is
everyone playing a character they want to.
