My mantra is "Story not details". Unless there is a specific mechanic built in for it then yes, you have ammo and you can carry a sensible amount of things on a quest. I enjoy mixing in a variety of different challenges for my players between combat, mental, social and moral challenges to advance the story. I assume that while I create the initial story it is the players that drive where it goes through investment and character agency. I know where we start and where the end is going to be. How they get there is up to them. I want the experiences at the table to be cinematic in nature with descriptions of exciting actions and detailed scenarios. Ultimately RPGs are about the shared experience of telling a compelling and exciting story and I revel in making sure everyone in my game feels a part of that.
