About Blayne of Blades

I have developed a love for TTRPG about 9 years ago and want everyone to know the enjoyment that this type of game provides. I am not a rules as written person but enjoy the rule of cool, so that my players can get the most out of every game. I believe that the characters, their backstories, and their intended goals should drive any story. I encourage the players at my table to develop a detailed backstory that I can build off of to develop the story. The inclusion of the players and their ideas is what makes the game enjoyable and brings people back. That is what I look forward to when I play TTRPG's as a player or a DM My Table is an LGBTQIA+ safe environment and open to everyone. Meeting new people and learning about their interests and beliefs the main reason I wanted to expand my perspective.

I became a GM because

There were to many nights with out a DnD session and a problem that large needs a resolution

The three words my players would use to describe me are...

incriminating and would get me banned from the site, but it is all in good fun.

When I'm not running games I'm...

Creating custom items and intertwining characters into my lore to give every character a unique experience

How Blayne of Blades runs games

I play a semi serious adventure that likes to balance roleplay and combat. My main focus in a campaign is to create the lore that the characters will get intertwined in. I do not leave characters out of the lore or the story itself and base this largely on the standard story format. A story does not focus on the BBEG but how the characters themselves try to deal with and stop the evil plot of the story. With a story that I create being lore based, there is a great deal of room for roleplay and allows characters to guide the direction of the story.

I deal with rules issues by...

determining what would be the most enjoyable for the party. If all you want to tell me is that it is written this way or intended that way, I have one thing to say. No one asked me what I thought of that rule.

If my games were Movies they'd be directed by...

Someone trying to get into the sundance film festival. Never herd of the guy before, made a movie on an Iphone, wrote the script while drunk, and talked his way into the entire budget on a Friday night at the bar

My games focus on...

The story that the players tell. I just offer them the pieces of the world that they naturally are opposed to and let the rest write itself

Blayne of Blades's ideal table

My ideal Table would consist of players that want to promote other players to maximize the experience of everyone. I am included in the everyone at the table and reward the uplifting of other players.

Featured Prompts

I am for a vibe that's...

high energy, but positive energy. Few people fail when they are encouraged to be great.

I love it when a player

involves other players in their actions during battle. Or does anything unique that drives the party together. The whole TTRPG experience is about building that team up over time and in learning about the characters we learn about the players

I think min/maxing...

is when people loose site of the fact that they are creating a character that should relatable but in a fantasy setting. No one is perfect, and no character should be perfect. Let the flaws and imperfections flow.
