About Peter
I've played Dungeons and Dragons for over 5 years and DM/Gm'd for over 4 of those. I enjoy creating a "realistic" fantasy world. Not super gritty (usually) but where the story and events follow cause and effect i.e. magic works a certain way and so do people: you can't kill a town of villagers and not expect some kind of consequence (yes murder hobos I'm talking to you). I've played primarily DnD 5e but have studied other gaming systems and other editions of the game and have house rules that I've used in the past that have come from those systems. I tend to like 5e because of how flexible to change it is. I love doing voices but am out of practice so on a good day I'm solid but on other days I'm going to lean on the narration until I have more time to dedicate to the practice of the craft. However, if you are looking for a systematic connected world where the players' choices have fallout in both direct and indirect ways then I'm the gm for you.

I got started GMing...
when I started building worlds for fun and characters to go in them. I wanted to share stories and build stories with others.
My favorite books are
Lord of the Rings, Dune, Percy Jackson, the Lost Years of Merlin, Harry Potter, Eragon, and the list goes on!
How Peter runs games
I love roleplay and tactics. However I'm a rp first kind of DM, I encourage players to know their characters and play the scene and the combat as the character and not themselves. Dnd is the chance to be someone you've only dreamed of so go for broke! As the DM I follow the same rule. What that means is that on one side as the DM I really am rooting for you, I want to reward your creativity and I want you to succeed. The NPC's on your side also want that and they will help you. The one's just trying to live their lives in a fantasy world that we are creating together well they just want to live their best lives. However, the monsters, fantastical beasts, devils, demons, gods that you make angry (yes I've had that happen), other creatures that I can't think of right now, and of course the BBEG they want to kill your PC's and won't hesitate to do so. Does that separation make me crazy? Probably, but it makes for a really fun time and makes the dice all the more important.

I prep by
building the world and go through what the characters i'm in control of and ask the question, what are they doing and why. Then I see how those actions are going to interact with the players. That includes how I build traps and puzzles.
Peter's ideal table
This is a table for those who want to have fun, explore characters, enjoy combat, and solve puzzles both in political and interpersonal intrigue and with literal puzzles from time to time.

I think metagaming...
isn't in knowing what's going on above table. I think it's that moment that you make a decision that your character wouldn't have because someone (or yourself) disclosed information that they don't have.
