About the adventure

New to the Warhammer 40k universe? Look no further than Only War! Our campaign on the dead world of Sleef provides a perfect entry point for beginners. Immerse yourself in the dark and fun world of Warhammer 40k while experiencing a lore-light introduction to the setting with one of the easiest 40k games to pick up and play. - Work together to design your own Regiment! Line Infantry, Drop Troops, or Seige Breakers? The choice is yours. - Take on the role of an Imperial Guard soldier and bring the fist of the Emporer to his enemies. - Roleplay with one another, your squaddie npcs, and other regiment squads and form bonds that go beyond war. Classified as a Dead World, Sleef has long been forbidden space to the void farers of the Calixis Sector. With the Ork invasion of nearby Letum and Pertinax, the Spinward Front high command has finally convinced the Ordos Calixis to allow the planet to be opened up for fortification. It is feared that the xenos might use Sleef as a launching point for further attacks on the Calixis Sector. What secrets lie hidden on this desolate planet remains to be seen, for the Inquisition's counsel has finally been overruled. Join the Imperial Guard in their mission to secure Sleef, but be warned: some things are best left undiscovered. Sharpen your tactical skills, utilize your weaponry, and work together with your squadmates to achieve victory! Will you develop the skills you need to overcome the challenges of war and emerge victorious? Join us on Sleef and discover the thrill of Only War in the Warhammer 40k universe! We will be using Discord for voice/text chat. We will also be using Foundryvtt for character sheets, maps, music, and more! This game will run for 3 hours, with a 10-15 minute break halfway through. If you're new, awesome! All materials (Foundry, books, etc) will be provided! No purchases are necessary on your end! See you at the table!

How to prepare

Mics will be required. Webcams are not required. A stable internet connection is required. We'll be using Discord for communication and FoundryVTT for character sheets, dice rolling, maps, and music. Check the recruiting notes for a link to the FoundryVTT system requirements to see if your computer can run Foundry successfully. Most can and we will be testing your ability to run them at session 0. No materials need to be purchased by you! I will provide everything you need to play the game!

What I provide

A FoundryVTT Server (You do not need to own a license for FoundryVTT to play!) -- Custom dice settings! Make your dice unique to you or your character! -- Ease of use with custom Marcos, Hotbar, and math automation to speed up the gameplay! -- Epic animations that add style/sounds to your attacks, abilities, and other bits and pieces! -- Music & sounds by Tabletop Audio, Monument Studios, and more! -- epic battle maps that bring the field of play to life -- Interactive elements like a landing page, map, and more!

Gameplay details

There will be no sexual assault, homophobia, transphobia, or racism in my games. Content warnings: fantasy violence, fantasy alcohol/drugs, illegal activity, interactions with monsters, fantasy racial tension, mature themes. This game is 18+ only for these reasons. Specific instances of content will be touched on at Session 0. Only War focuses on the frontline warfare of the 40K universe. With that, this will be a combat-heavy game, and your character will most likely die at least once if not more. But what makes these moments more engaging is the roleplay between the squadmates (you and your fellow PCs), their relationships with other squads in your Regiment, and the relationships between your Regiment and other Regiments of the Imperial Guard. Rivalries will be formed as you all struggle to not only fight and survive but also prove you are the best the Imperium has to offer.

How will character creation work

We will be making characters and their Regiment as session 0. Yes, I said your Regiment! You, as a group, get to design your own regiment, giving you bonuses and drawbacks to your characters and on the battlefield. This can be really in-depth, or really simple, so the limit is your imaginations! As for characters, you will choose one of the multiple Specializations, or your "class". This, along with your Regiment, decides what your role in the squad is going to be. Want to be a heavy-weapons expert? Check. Sergeant? Check. Medic. Yes. Magic-wielding crazy priest. Also yes.

Players can expect

• Find a game to join solo or search for a professional game master for you and your friends/coworkers/family.
• Book your session and wait for the Game Master to approve you.
• If you don't have a blast with your first game, your next game is on us.
