The Wild Beyond the Witchlight

The Wild Beyond the Witchlight is a well-regarded entry in D&D's official line of adventures. It's known for being a rare adventure that can be played all the way through without combat, if you're so inclined. If that sounds like a fun challenge, then you will have a lot of fun. If you enjoy combat being a big focus of your games, you may get restless. As a player, you will experience a very different setting, one with lots of fairy tale flavour. Encounters and interactions are often set up with a focus on humour. You can definitely get yourselves into fights, if that's what you want, but it's almost always possible to avoid them through clever role play. For dungeon masters, make sure that your players understand the tone of the adventure. Even if you do, there will be points when the players want a little more action. In this case you may want to sprinkle in some incursions of undead or aberrations, who have been allowed in due to the destabilization of the environment. That can allow you to blow off a little steam, before getting back to the role playing and NPC interactions.

The ultimate whimsical roleplaying module, WBTW offers players lots of opportunities to showcase their imagination and inventiveness, as it is full of situations that can be handled both by brute force... or in more clever manners. This is as close to Alice in Wonderland as an official module has ever gotten, and the tables I have where it's being ran at the moment are having a blast - both with the written parts and the unwritten, often improvised manners in which their characters are regularly challenged and antagonized. Definitely recommended to both players and game masters for whom creativity is important to enjoy a game, and most particularly to theatre kids.

This is the first official module I've played (Most campaigns I've played have been 100% homebrew of 5E) and I've so far LOVED the art and materials - the maps and character art are great, the writing is fun, I'm excited to see where this goes. It's been especially fun as our GM has helped us create our own unhinged little guys to set loose in this world. If someone's running it and it piqued your curiosity, absolutely dive in!

The base module is a fun time, and the online fan community has so much extra content to expand or take this story in different directions. Love it!

This is my first full DnD campaign and I'm having such a blast with it. I even let it inspire the character that I created and she has turned out to be my absolute favorite.
