The Red Hand of Doom (3.5 module)
Dungeons & Dragons 3/3.5e on Discord, Roll20
About the adventure
Who Can Stand Against the Son of the Dragon? The Wyrmsmoke Mountains shook with the thunder of ten thousand screaming hobgoblin soldiers. From the phalanx emerged a single champion. One by one the tribes fell silent as the warlord rose up, blue scales gleaming along his shoulders, horns swept back from his head. A hundred bright yellow banners stood beneath him, each marked with a great red hand. He stood upon a precipice and raised his arms. “I am Azarr Kul, Son of the Dragon!” the warlord bellowed. “Hear me! Tomorrow we march to war!” Red Hand of Doom is a DUNGEONS & DRAGONS® adventure designed to take characters from the 6th level to the 12th level. Confronted with the relentless advance of Azurr Kul’s horde, the characters must undertake vital missions to influence the outcome of the war. Can they shatter the armies of the enemy, or will Azarr Kul’s dreams rain destruction upon the human lands?
How to prepare
You will need a Microphone to play, and bring your character to the first session. You will need an account on Roll20. You don't need to bring dice, since a dice roller is included in Roll20, but if you'd prefer to roll physical dice, that's fine too.
What I provide
I will be sending out copies of handouts to the players, as well as any maps of the region that you obtain. I will also have all of the battle maps and characters uploaded into the game ahead of time.
This is a versatile game that is enjoyable by people of all levels of experience, and offers a variety of types of things to do in the adventure. There is a decent amount of combat in the module, as the players will be tasked with preparing for war. There are opportunities for both roleplay and combat. Cunning enemies that are prepared for danger can be a legitimate threat even when the party is much stronger, punctuated by monsters that are as cunning as they are brutal. The game works on a timeline system, where enemies will be progressing across the map at a set rate, unless slowed by the actions of the party. You don't have to rush from place to place; explore the countryside and foil plots, but don't dawdle!
Safety tools used
How will character creation work
The characters will start the adventure at level six, and they should be ready to go at the beginning of the first session. The first hour of play will be making sure that everyone is tied into the party in at least some way. I would appreciate it send me a copy of your character sheet before we begin so I can get the digital version of your character sheet prepared ahead of time. While an in-depth backstory is not strictly necessary, I would appreciate it if you at least write out 3-5 sentences about your character, including things like your job, parents, and where you had grown up.
