About the adventure

"None can leave. Face divine retribution and repent for your sins. Let me show you your errors." 👑 ⚔️ Revolt against the oppressors of shadow and snow that entraps the Ten-Towns in an ever-present storm—the sun hasn't risen in two years. Eldritch entities and powers of dread roam free, terrorising the helpless and isolating the already surrounded settlements. ❄️ Avoid the Ice Queen's wrathful gaze as you scrub Her corrupting influence from the land. Thaw the frozen hearts of the people while outwitting those in league with the captors. As you rise in power and renown, prepare to face Her retribution. ☀️ Investigate who the Queen is and uncover the secrets of Her pain that She wreaks onto others. Find weaknesses or enter her castle and face Her early. Let the sun rise and end the permafrost. 🎮 This action-horror sandbox campaign reimagines 'Rime of the Frostmaiden' as if it had become a Domain of Dread, like 'Curse of Strahd', but then add in the chaos of the DOOM, Diablo, and Warhammer: Vermintide videogames. This scenario spans Levels 5 to 15. ■■■ "The North is haunted. Rip and shatter. Tear the monarchy down—brick by brick." ■■■

How to prepare

• Discord account to talk and text. • Free D&D Beyond account: https://www.dndbeyond.com/ • Free Forge account to play from a web browser: https://forge-vtt.com/ • Clear microphone with either a quiet background or at least push-to-talk. • Encouraged to use a Webcam but it isn't needed. If you do, follow standard video call etiquette. • After joining the game, view the Prep Materials and follow any other instructions. • After joining my discord server, read and click on the 📕 to agree to my community code of conduct otherwise you cannot join the game.

Gameplay details

🕹️｜GAMEPLAY STYLE ・Sandbox setting that encourages player creativity and freedom of choice in how you want to fight the forces that control the land. There will be dangers way above your level and others that are beneath you. Fleeing and tactics are encouraged. ・The Queen's virulent influence manifests in the Ten-Towns in different ways. Find out how to remove it. Doing so will reward Level Ups. Side-missions can reward allies, items, new upgrades, safety, information, or renown. Either way, you increase the Queen's attention towards your party which may result in more targeted encounters or other obstacles strengthening their defences. ・Character death is more likely to occur in this adventure, so it might be best to come prepared with a backup character concept. 🛡️｜SAFETY TOOLS ・During Session 0 we will discuss Lines and Veils and have an ongoing document for that. ・I also employ the safety tool Script Change ⏯️ by Beau Jágr Sheldon (http://briebeau.com/scriptchange), which replaces X, N, O Cards. ・A 10 minute break will occur roughly halfway through the session. ・Further details of all tool implementations are provided within the discord server. Feel free to ask any questions for clarification. 🧰｜NOTABLE VARIANT RULES ・Milestone Levelling. Qualify to Level up each time you remove the influence of the Queen from a town. ・Standard Array Attributes. ・Free Feat at Character Creation. ・No Multi-Classing Allowed. ・Healing Surges (DMG p266). As a Bonus Action. ・Cleave (p272). Enemies don't need to be uninjured. ・Short Rests are 10 minutes, instead of 1 hour. ・NPCs will use Flat Damage instead of Rolled. ・Proficiency Dice (DMG p263). Abilities tied to Prof roll the dice to use it - last use if it lands on a 1.

How will character creation work

• We'll have a Session 0 to discuss creating a cohesive group of characters, making any necessary connections that occurred before the adventure started. • Starting Wealth at Level 5: Normal Starting Equipment, 650gp, x1 Uncommon Magic Item. • We will use D&DBeyond to create characters, before transferring them to Forge (FoundryVTT). • Session 1 is when we begin to Rip and Shatter. ⚔️ • Anyone that joins later or needs to create a new character, will make a character at the party's current level.

Players can expect

• Find a game to join solo or search for a professional game master for you and your friends/coworkers/family.
• Book your session and wait for the Game Master to approve you.
• If you don't have a blast with your first game, your next game is on us.
