About the adventure

Stranded by the Mists, you emerge above a terrified village overshadowed by a great castle. In the distance, werewolves howl. Closer, the forest growls, and at your feet a letter lies pinned to a corpse's chest. Welcome to Barovia. --- About the Campaign --- Cure of Strahd is a level 3 to 10 gothic horror campaign for D&D 5e. In it, players brave Barovia's horrors and vampiric master, Count Strahd von Zarovich. And, if successful, free the valley of its ancient curse.

How to prepare

This campaign is a voice-only game held on Discord (voice chat and gm notes) and Roll20 (character sheets, battle maps, dice, etc.) To meaningfully participate in the campaign, you will need: - A Roll20 account (Free), - A Discord account (Free), - A microphone (we only need to understand you), - A headset or earbuds (so we don't hear each other or background noises), - and a reliable internet connection.

What I provide

Tangibly, I bring all allowed source books for player use, a fully prepared module, and a Roll20 Pro subscription. Intangibly, I bring a zeal for TTRPGs as a whole, experience teaching those new to the hobby*, and willingness to go off script. *See my reviews for details.

Gameplay details

This campaign has the following Lines (hard content boundaries) and Veils (permissible, but not described). Which boils down to "keep it PG-13" and "treat other players with respect." - Sexual content, especially violence. (Line) - Torture and other acts of blatant cruelty/sadism. (Line) - Negatively affecting another player's character without their consent. (Line) - Racism, bigotry, etc. Both fantastic and, especially, real world. (Line) - Gratuitous depictions of violence and/or gore. (Line) - Romance (Veil) If players find themselves uncomfortable, I encourage them to communicate verbally, in text, or message me privately. At that point, I will skip or minimize the offending content. If the specific content isn't clear, I may pause the game to gain a better understanding of the issue. If the offending content has a larger presence in the campaign, I will work between sessions to remove it. If I cannot, I will communicate why. (For example, a fear of dragons while running Tyranny of Dragons.) At the end of sessions, I will also ask for feedback to better tailor the campaign to the group's preferences ("Stars and Wishes").

How will character creation work

At the beginning of the campaign, we will complete character creation as part of Session 0. However, players are free to complete their level 3 character prior to Session 0 using Point Buy/Standard Array and approved source books. (See list below). Once the campaign has begun, joining players must complete prior character prior to the next session they wish to join in. If requested, I am more than happy to aid in character creation. --- Approved Source Books (Core + Setting) --- - Core Books: Player's Handbook (2014), Dungeon Masters Guide (2014), Xanathar's Guide to Everything, Tasha's Cauldron of Everything, and Mordenkainen Presents: Monsters of the Multiverse. - Setting Books: Curse of Strahd, Van Richten's Guide to Ravenloft.
