About the adventure

In the village of Greymire, you find yourself in a tavern that is thick with paranoia. Recently, the dead have begun rising from the local graveyard. But the dead are not hostile... in fact, they are downright friendly. Maybe even more polite than the drunks. ----- 🪦 This 3-4 hour oneshot is a mix of investigative roleplaying, dungeon-crawling, and puzzle-combat. It is a light adventure with some silly moments and subverts expectations even for experienced players. Some character restrictions will apply. A oneshot is a mini-adventure designed for a single session; they're great for having an easy night of fun with no weekly commitment. This one is very beginner friendly and teaches various mechanics of D&D while not being overwhelming :)

About me

Hello! I'm Dallas. I've been a Dungeon Master for 6 years, but I've been roleplaying before I even knew what to call it. If I wasn't creating my own Original Characters (OCs), I was taking 2014 fandoms and text-RPing back and forth online. Playing make-believe has been my second language for a long time. I love the creativity that being a DM provides. Prepping maps, minis, and music playlists will never get tiring to me. No matter if it's a heroic sandbox with ripple effects, a goofy stress-reliever one-shot, or a gothic horror module with gritty combat, I can truthfully say I've enjoyed moments from every aspect in every game :) Whether you're wanting a tailored campaign, a mini-adventure for min-maxxed fights, or simply someone to host your game with friends, feel free to reach out!

Character creation

Creating your character

Characters will be level 2 using standard array (15, 14, 13, 12, 10, 8) or the point buy system for your ability scores. For your health, you can either roll or take the average of your hit dice +Con modifier. Sourcebooks allowed: PHB/Basic Rules 2014, Xanathar's Guide to Everything, Monsters of the Multiverse, Tasha's Cauldron of Everything, Mythic Odysseys of Theros, Volo's Guide to Monsters, Elemental Evil Player's Companion, etc. (i.e. most 5e official books) Backstories won't really be involved unless you can bring it up. I encourage you to use Heroforge for a custom miniature (which either you or I can make), but a simple photo will work as well. Character sheets can be thru DnDBeyond, Roll20, text-based PDF, image-based sheet, etc. As long as it's accessible! (Disclaimer: with the nature of a oneshot, punches won't be pulled and characters may die.)

What to expect

Preparing for the session

We will use Discord for voice chat. Please share your character to me beforehand, and have a microphone and web browser ready for Owlbear Rodeo (which does not need an account!)

Safety

How Yoinked By Dallas creates a safe table

Should players feel the need to, they can digitally message an "X" or "Stop" to signal discomfort. Besides claustrophobia (dungeon-crawling) and zombies, the oneshot does not cover the below content warnings in detail, and I would consider this oneshot a T for Teen.
