About the adventure
Whatever your former allegiance, whether you joined the 5th Fleet for money, glory or just for the love of the game, you're now an elite Union pilot, the best of the best and attached to the 5th Fleet as it responds to a distress signal on the fringe of the Union. Operational elements are stretched thin this far out, so if anything goes wrong, the 5th Fleet is on its own. Fight a desperate interstellar war against an alien menace in the ultimate customisable fighting machine. Your LANCER is your life pilot--don't waste it. - About the Campaign - This campaign is short-medium in length and will suit anyone looking for the core LANCER experience and interesting sitreps with objectives beyond "kill everything on the field". It loosely takes place in the LANCER setting, but treads lightly on the established lore. - Inspirations - Event Horizon Pacific Rim Starship Troopers MechWarrior 5 Clan Ghost Bear DLC, funnily enough

About me
I have been a GM ever since receiving a D&D3.5E starter set when I was a young lad. I was the kid who tried to start a D&D club in primary school, and I've been playing tabletop games of all kinds, from board games to wargames, ever since. I'm a kind and funny guy by all reports, and I've always been warmly received by my players (once, a player frothed at the mouth from excitement during a tense combat encounter at the end of a campaign!) I am also a designer, and I have been tweaking rules and making homebrew ever since I started GMing. I have been told before that I should write my adventures down and try to publish them, and honestly one day I do hope to become a published author of adventures and rulebooks (rather than just an informal one), and I'm even working on my own skirmish wargame, Flintstrike. I can be shy when it comes to putting myself out there like that, though...but one day soon, I hope.

Creating your character
We will begin at LL0 in Everests/Chomolungmas/Sagarmathas and we will be using the bonds system found in the KTB book. You'll be LL1 after the first sitrep, which is when you'll get your bonds as well (it'll make sense at the time). Your character should be conceived as an elite pilot of the one of the four big manufacturers, currently serving the 5th Fleet in a front-line combat role. Whether you joined up for money or to save the world and look good doing it, you'll get more than you bargained for. You'll also need to come up with a brief concept (just one or two lines of description and maybe a character portrait) for an NPC squadmate of yours with whom you have a deep connection.
What to expect
Preparing for the session
You'll need a discord account to play, since that is the platform I use for voice communication during the game. I have a discord server where you'll find everything you need, from like-minded friendly people to all the homebrew and information you'll need to participate. The link to it is presented when you join the game.
What Roy brings to the table
I bring an enjoyable, lore-consistent experience and provide an immersive world you can get lost in. From ambient music to characterful voices, I know when to let players' imaginations run wild invoking Rule of Cool and when to be strict about Rules as Written to ensure everyone at the table is having their equal share of a good time. I use the Foundry VTT in order to provide a cinematic experience with visual- and sound effects, digital character sheets and battlemaps that incorporate height levels and line of sight. I also use an amazing isometric perspective module that makes it look like all the characters are really in the thick of things, instead of using circular tokens.
Homebrew rules
All the official and semi-official Lancer LCPs are legal for this campaign (a list is available on my discord). There will not be any homebrew/community LCPs, but enemies will be entirely homebrew.

How Roy creates a safe table
I keep the players at my table safe and comfortable by ensuring a warm atmosphere and by making it very clear that anyone can come to me with their concerns at any time. I also check in at the end of every session to make sure everyone is feeling positive and to see if there was anything that gave someone a bad experience during the game.
