About the adventure

This is a level 1 beginner-friendly D&D 5e one-shot based on the magical mystery of Fistandia’s mansion. The adventure is designed to be easy to follow, low-pressure, and welcoming for players of all experience levels. Combat will be light, roleplay opportunities will be encouraged, and the focus will be on exploration, discovery, teamwork, and getting comfortable with your character. This game is especially good for players who want to: Try D&D for the first time Test a new character sheet Learn how their character works in actual play Practice roleplay in a supportive table Enjoy a short adventure before joining a full campaign Experience an official-style adventure with a few custom surprises You do not need deep rules knowledge to join. I will help guide new players through rolls, choices, character abilities, and basic D&D flow as we play. Bring a level 2 character, a little curiosity, and a willingness to explore a mansion where the rooms are strange, the magic is unstable, and not everything is where it should be.

About me

Hi! I’m Angel (He/Him), a passionate D&D 5e Game Master with over 6 years of experience running online tabletop RPG sessions. I specialize in beginner-friendly D&D games that help new players learn in a supportive, low-pressure environment while still giving veteran players exciting stories, meaningful choices, and memorable character moments. I’ve also had the opportunity to play and run games for companies at conventions, which has helped me create tables that are welcoming, organized, and fun for players with different experience levels. At my table, I balance being a fair rules referee with being your biggest cheerleader when you come up with a clever plan, dramatic speech, or heroic last stand. My games focus on collaborative storytelling, roleplay, exploration, cinematic combat, and player choice. If you’re looking for a welcoming online D&D campaign where imagination matters more than rules-lawyering, you’ve found your table.

Character creation

Creating your character

Characters should be created using official content available on D&D Beyond. No unofficial homebrew, joke builds, or unsupported options. Official crossover books and partnered content available through D&D Beyond, such as Rick and Morty, Stranger Things, or The Crooked Moon, are welcome. Level 2 characters are preferred for this one-shot, but level 1 characters are also allowed. I will be running the game using the 2024 D&D 5e rules, but players may use a 2014 character as long as the character is fully built and available on D&D Beyond. For ability scores, players may use Standard Array or Point Buy. If you would like to roll for stats, we can do that during Session 0, either at the table or through Discord with video on during the rolls. This helps keep character creation fair for everyone. Once you have a basic character ready, I will create and share the D&D Beyond campaign link so you can add your character and access any extra content I make available. I recommend building a balanced character or focusing clearly on what your class and species are designed to do well. Extremely min-maxed builds, flying characters, and difficult-to-manage character options may be held for review. Creative choices are welcome, but shenanigans will be answered with shenanigans, because the mansion is already magical enough without someone trying to break reality at level 2.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

Players will need a free D&D Beyond account for character creation and character sharing. Characters must be added to the campaign so I can review sheets before and during the game, help with rules questions, and make sure everything is ready for play. D&D Beyond will be used for character sheets, dice rolls when needed, and its built-in VTT whenever possible. This helps keep the game organized and makes it easier for new players to follow along. A Discord account is also required for online play. We will use Discord for voice chat, table communication, and any session updates or links needed before the game. Before the session, please make sure your character is created, added to the campaign, and ready to play. If you are new to D&D Beyond or character creation, I can help guide you through the basics before the adventure begins.

What Angel brings to the table

I provide a welcoming, beginner-friendly table where players can learn, ask questions, try creative ideas, and enjoy the adventure without feeling pressured to know every rule. As your GM, I will provide guidance with D&D Beyond character sheets, help during play, clear explanations of rules when needed, and a supportive space for both new and experienced players. I will also use D&D Beyond’s tools and VTT whenever possible to help keep the game organized and easy to follow. My GM style focuses on collaborative storytelling, roleplay, exploration, meaningful choices, and fun character moments. I enjoy giving players room to be clever, dramatic, funny, heroic, or completely unexpected, as long as everyone at the table is respected and included. I use a fair balance between Rules as Written and the Rule of Cool. The rules matter, but I believe they should support the story instead of strangling it in a tiny rules-lawyer cage. Creative plans are welcome, and I will do my best to reward smart thinking while keeping the game fair for everyone. You can expect light character voices, descriptive scenes, magical atmosphere, player-focused storytelling, and combat that is clear, approachable, and cinematic rather than overly punishing.
