About the adventure
The village of Feather Falls in between Featherdale and Scardale has not seen the sun for many days, surrounded by an unnatural night. Crops are starting to fail, as is the villagers' resolve. You have answered the summons of Dawnbringer Fenna, a priestess of Lathander, god of the dawn. She has received a vision of an obelisk in a grove that she believes will bring the sun back to Feather Falls. The vision also showed her a withered stump with a flat, oval stone on it, as well as making her feel the presence of a great evil. She has hired you to secure the site. This is a one-shot adventure for a party of 4-6 level 4 characters, set in the Forgotten Realms. It will be combat heavy and roleplay lite. Combat will be tactical.

About me
I have been playing TTRPGs for about 35 years and running games for over 30 of those, starting with AD&D and dabbling with other systems (GURPS, Robotech, Shadowrun 2E, Pathfinder) before finally coming back to D&D 5E after a hiatus during COVID. I have a regular home game with the same group I've been playing with for nearly 20 years, but I have run games for several different groups during that time. I tend to stick to published material for my games, as I consider myself more of a storyteller than a composer of stories. As an accomplished vocalist, I am also experienced with using my voice as a tool, and I do try whenever possible to give distinct voices to the more significant characters I have to portray. My proudest moment as a GM was when I took the story and events of Baldur's Gate 2 and converted it to a tabletop version for D&D 3.5E as a passion project. That game ran for a little over 2 years, and was a great time for all.

Creating your character
Characters should be created on D&D Beyond prior to the start of the adventure using a 27-point buy and manual hit points. Starting level is 4 with standard starting equipment along with one uncommon magic item. Character preferences should be set to 5.5e core rules, 5.5e expanded rules, subscriber content, and 5e expanded rules. Partnered content should be approved by me prior to using. I also have pre-made characters available for play.
What to expect
Preparing for the session
Players should have accounts on D&D Beyond and Discord. A link to join the Discord server will be provided, as well as a link to the D&D Beyond campaign page. I will also be using the D&D Beyond Maps VTT for this adventure.
What Matt Ramos brings to the table
Combat for this adventure will be tactical and intense. Rules will be largely as written, but cool things can definitely happen sometimes. I will be using some voices for some of the NPCs in this adventure, as well.

How Matt Ramos creates a safe table
There will be a brief open discussion on Discord at the start of the session to discuss any triggers or anything else that might make a player uncomfortable. We will also take a 10-minute break partway through the session to address any issues (as well as other needs).
