About the adventure
For this campaign you will take on the role of a inhabitant of the Steampunk city of Skywatch, a vast place constructed around and atop a mountain. You will be encouraged to make moral decisions and form relationships both to the other player characters and to the NPCs that inhabit the world. I want this campaign to be fun and adventurous, but that doesn’t mean there won’t be some serious moments. Skywatch will be the start of this game but if we go for long enough I want to explore the rest of the world and I want your input to help create and flesh out this world. After all there is a very good chance you'll be seeing it from the bridge of your very own airship. I want to explore themes of class and technological progress, as this world is one were an elite few hold much of the wealth and power while others toil away in factories working just to put food on the table. Political maneuvering will also play a factor as your characters will have the chance to get involved with the delicate political games that decide who rules the city. The Rules that we will be playing with are those of Fabula Ultima, a system designed to replicate the feel of a JRPG with a very unique multiclassing character creator. If you have never played a TTRPG before I want this table to be as new player friendly as possible as well as being a safe space for any members of the LGBTQ+ community. It should also be noted that this game does not feature rules for character death. Your characters may be defeated but should that happen they will not die they will simply face some narrative consequences, such as being captured or taking a hit to their reputation. At all times you will be in control of your characters actions and fate.

About me
I have been running TTRPG's for around 15 years. I began with Warhammer 40K: Rogue Trader, but have run a variety of systems including, but not limited to, Fabula Ultima, Star Trek Adventures, Age of Sigmar Soulbound, Pugmire, Mass Effect 5e and Polymorph. I have recently focused my GMing on running games at Conventions but I have also run home games for longer campaigns. Several years ago my friends and I produced an Actual Play series on Youtube with myself as the GM, although I admit the audio and Video quality was somewhat lacking. My GM style is to focus on a strong narrative and role play elements, my favorite moments both as a player and a GM are always those deep emotional roleplay moments where we are able to dig into a character and really see what makes them tick.

Creating your character
Characters will be created using the Rules found in the Fabula Ultima Core Book, though all three major expansions may be used to supplement these options, either during session 0 or between sessions 0 and 1. Starting at this games base level of 5. To make this easier on the players I have created a guide to character creation for anyone unfamiliar with this system. I will ensure that players have access to everything they need to create characters sharing screenshots of the relevant parts of the rules when needed. I am also able to share a free online character creation tool for Fabula Ultima that may be used as an alternative to a physical character sheet, or if players prefer I also have access to a fillable PDF. Player preference will be the most important issue on this point.
What to expect
Preparing for the session
We will be playing this Game over Discord and primarily using Theatre of the Mind techniques. You will not need anything else, though if you wish to transcribe your character sheets to paper I can send you a copy of the PDF versions. Having a standard set of gaming dice will be extremely helpful, but if you prefer a digital dice roller (such as the one built into the character sheet) that is also entirely acceptable. The use of cameras over Discord will be up to the players, and will be a matter we discuss as part of our Session 0.
What Richard Parrington brings to the table
I am somewhat experienced as an amateur voice actor and strive to give each NPC their own unique energy. I am not a master of accents however, so a lot of the NPC's will be suspiciously British, but in the Steampunk Genre that feels entirely appropriate. Generally I will favor the Rule of Cool over Rules as Written, but that does not mean I will be throwing the rulebook out the window. Primarily I want this to be a collaborative storytelling experience. You will be the stars, I am here to provide the stage.
Homebrew rules
I have no homebrew rules planned for this game but if you have any suggestions I am happy to listen.

How Richard Parrington creates a safe table
As part of the onboarding process I will be sending a link to a google form where you will have the opportunity to list lines, veils and any elements that are not hard no's but that you just would rather avoid. This document will also include the opportunity to request things you would like to see Included. X cards may be sent to me in anyway you prefer, this may be spoken, sent in a private message or posted in the general chat. Should any aftercare be required or you need to talk about the game I will be very happy to do so.
