About the adventure

A Very Muppet Curse of Strahd intends to be the ultimate send-up of this beloved classic D&D tale! Welcome to Ravenloft, but like you've never seen it before! All of your favorite Muppet characters are cast into roles within Curse of Strahd! You'll meet the Vampire Lord Count Von Count, master of the foggy hamlet of Barovia. The vampire hunter Von Richten is preparing to end Count's rule over the domain, as is his former assistant, Esmerelda d'Piggy. You'll laugh, you'll guffaw, you'll have a wonderful time, all under the watchful eyes of The Dark Powers, up in their phantasmal balcony, finding joy in the missteps and misfortunes of your adventures. "Adventurers? Heading north into Barovia?" "How can you tell they're heading north?" "Cuz their south side smells worse!" "Bwaaahahahaha!!"

About me

An author, poet, and anthropologist, I love to introduce new players to the fantastical worlds I grew up in and love even more building new worlds with players of all experience levels (including no experience!) DMing is a passion of mine, something I am always striving to improve at: the physical world around me is littered with sourcebooks, notebooks, guides, print-outs, Post-Its, dice, half-painted miniatures, and other paraphernalia related to this incredible hobby. All of my games are LGBTQ+ friendly, and my tables are safe spaces where everyone is welcome, so long as they believe that everyone is welcome.

Character creation

Creating your character

Character creation will be handled through the D&D Beyond website. Players can create their level 1 characters before Session 0 and have them ready, but are encouraged to wait until Session 0 to create them. Any official D&D 5.5e content is allowed. This includes: - Player's Handbook - Dragon Delves - Eberron: Forge of the Artificer - Forgotten Realms: Heroes of Faerûn - Ravenloft: The Horrors Within - D&D Beyond Drops & Play-Along Packs Third-party content is subject to the DM's approval, but must be 5.5e-compatible content and either available through D&D Beyond's marketplace (such as Dr. Dhrolin's Dictionary of Dinosaurs or Vampire: The Masquerade - Bound by Blood) or creatable in D&D Beyond's Homebrew tools. For players joining after Session 0, I will work with them over Discord to get their character created and leveled-up to match the rest of the party, catch them up to speed on the story, cover safety tools, discuss table rules and expectations, and hype them up for a fun night!

What to expect

Preparing for the session

Players will need at least text chat capabilities and internet access, along with both a free Discord account (https://discordapp.com) and a free D&D Beyond account (https://www.dndbeyond.com). Video chat is optional; voice chat is preferred. A basic understanding of the rules and what your character will be able to do is recommended, though not necessary.

What Gerald brings to the table

I am a very unserious person presenting a very unserious game of D&D. I will be bringing a fun, exciting game time to you, every other week, full of thrills, chills, and quite possibly spills. Additionally, I bring with me a gaming community full of great weirdos. My Discord channel is full of fun people who love gaming in all its forms and fun conversations take place daily. Please be aware, I deal with chronic fatigue and chronic migraines. Most days, I'm fine. Some days, I may just not have a three-hour D&D game full of Muppet voices and tactical combat in me. I'll always do my best, but that will sometimes look like a shorter session or an altogether canceled session. I try my best to be accommodating when this happens.

Homebrew rules

A homebrew "Muppetborn" species will be available for anyone who wants it. Many modifications to the content, tone, and adventure as a whole will be made to fit the tone of The Muppets. Statblocks may be modified for creatures beyond the PCs to fit rebalancing, or shifts in the character to their Muppet actors.

How Gerald creates a safe table

Players can expect fast-paced combat and tense dialogue scenes. Combat scenes will have the potential for non-combat resolutions. Not all of the content warning tags will necessarily be part of the campaign; however, the potential for a D&D game to explore subject matter beyond what is written in the module itself and beyond what I have detailed as potential content warnings is extremely high and it is important to know this going in. It is my every intention to make a fun, safe place for players to enjoy themselves, and will take steps to shut down content that is against the player's wishes.
