About the adventure
You are part of a cruise ship in the 1900's heading back to mainland USA. On a moonless night, the night you're supposed to make landfall, your ship crashes into rocks and you barely survive, making your escape to a small island with a lighthouse. But there's no living being to help you. The lighthouse is dark, the place is tumbled over, strange noises accompany you in the dark, and phantom outlines of humanoids seems to come and go. Will you survive the night before daybreak's rescue? Are there any living beings here? Could you signal for help on the mainland? Can you uncover the mystery of this strange little island before its too late? The Little Lighthouse of Horrors is a Call of Cthulhu one-shot based on 'The Lightless Beacon' module published by Chaosium, written by Leigh Carr with Lynn Hardy. This game is open to newbies and veterans alike as you uncover clues to the mystery of the place, or survive the night before you can be rescued. My table is always open to people of all communities and backgrounds and I have only one rule: be kind to your fellow human :D My table is also AI-free, pro LGBTQ+, and safety-first! If this is your vibe, come and play at my table! We'll have fun, fun, fun. >:)

Meet the Game Master
About me
Hi! I'm Amaan. I'm a CRiT winning podcast host and CRiT nominated Horror Game Master (Chaosium), Actual Play producer, podcaster, and content creator, and winner of various webfest awards for my Actual Play GODKILLER: Qismat. I've been running games for the past 2.5 years, ranging from D&D, OSR/OSE, Call of Cthulhu, Candela Obscura, Blades in the Dark, Pathfinder, Kids on Bikes/Brooms, Godkiller, and others! My focus is more on horror narrative with fantastical elements rather than mechanics focused number crunching gameplay. If you're into that, we're gonna have a swell time! I've also created a Carved from Brindlewood game called MOSNTERS ATE MY HOMEWORK which is now available to buy. I can run that for you here if requested. :) I'm here to be able to fund my further education.

Creating your character
There are pre-generated CoC characters for you available. ALTERNATIVELY: You can create a character on https://www.dholeshouse.org/ using Classic Dice Roll method. We're not looking at modern rules, only the classic character creation method.
What to expect
Preparing for the session
A Discord and Owlbear account is required. Both can be made for free. A decent internet is a must. It is not required of you to be cams-on but your voice should be clear on the mic. Do not worry if you don't use a professional microphone. As long your earphone mic or computer mic works and you're in a relatively noise-free environment, that should be enough. If you're playing CoC for the first time, ITS VERY EASY and I can explain it ON THE GO. If you wish, you can try to read through the basic rules to get a basic understanding of the system. Rest can be figured out on the fly. Be prerpared for your characters to lose control via going insane. Create your character using https://www.dholeshouse.org/
What AmaanHK brings to the table
The game itself is Theatre of the Mind but occasional handouts will be given digitally in PNG format. I tend to do a limited range of character voices, and there will be ambient music during the game. I'm usually intentional with my talks and dialogues, and can be expected to expand on feelings rather that explicit detail. My GMing is more or less shaped by use of cinematic techniques rather than descriptive narration. Rules as Written are fine, but I'm very open and appreciative of Rule of Cool.
Homebrew rules
Chase Rules for Call of Cthulhu won't apply. Instead we'll do 2 Speed rolls to determine how you fare if you are running away. Insanity for Call of Cthulhu (usually rolled on a random table) will be answered by you, by how you want your character to go Insane.

How AmaanHK creates a safe table
The game will take place over a private discord server. I will be sending a common Lines and Veils link via Google Sheets. A Line for one player will be a line for the game, so if somebody selects something as a Line, DO NOT change it. The X cards can be anything from digital, messaged, or held up on video, your choice. Open door policy means that for whatever reasons, if you need to step out or leave to take care of yourself, you can and you should. Life happens and taking care of that comes first.
