About the adventure

All aboard for the journey of a lifetime. Travel across 1920s Europe aboard the luxurious Orient Express, from London toward Constantinople, in search of the pieces of a mysterious and dangerous ancient artifact. Your investigation will carry you through some of Europe's most famous cities and beautiful landscapes, where every stop brings new mysteries, memorable characters, and horrors waiting beyond the comfort of first-class travel. Follow the clues, decide whom to trust, and choose how far you're willing to go as the journey draws you deeper into the unknown. Along the way, forgotten stories and dark chapters of the past may become far more immediate than you expect. Horror on the Orient Express is one of Call of Cthulhu's great epic campaigns: a long-form journey of investigation, roleplaying, historical atmosphere, cosmic horror, and danger. Your decisions matter, and survival is never guaranteed. New to Call of Cthulhu? You're absolutely welcome aboard. You don't need to know the rules or the 1920s setting before joining. I have 23+ years of GM experience and have introduced many players to the game; you'll learn naturally as we play. Experienced investigators are equally welcome—just don't expect experience to make the Orient Express any safer.

About me

👋 Hello, I’m Leo — a professional Game Master specializing in immersive horror roleplaying. With over 24 years of experience, I focus on delivering tense, atmospheric games built around investigation, dread, and meaningful player choice. My tables are designed for players who want suspense, strong narrative cohesion, and stories that linger long after the session ends. If you’re looking for carefully paced horror, deep immersion, and a GM who treats the game seriously while keeping it fun and welcoming — you’re in the right place. 🕯️ My Specialization: Horror & Investigative Play Horror is my main focus and strongest discipline. I specialize in games where atmosphere, mystery, and tension drive the experience: 🕵️ Call of Cthulhu – My signature system. From classic 1920s investigations to modern cosmic horror, I emphasize slow-burn dread, strong clues, and player-driven discovery. 🕶️ Delta Green – Psychological and conspiracy horror, where paranoia, secrecy, and moral pressure are as dangerous as the Mythos itself. 👽 ALIEN RPG – Cinematic survival horror in space: lethal, intense, and tightly paced, inspired by the tone of the films. My games prioritize investigation, character perspective, and narrative tension over mechanical complexity or power gaming. 🌍 About Me I’m bilingual — fluent in Spanish (native) and English — originally from Venezuela and currently based in Chile. I’ve run games for players across the USA, UK, and Spain, and I adapt my style to match each group’s experience level and expectations. I’m also a published writer, with three Call of Cthulhu scenarios released on Chaosium’s Miskatonic Repository, where my work has been praised for atmosphere, pacing, and table usability. 💡 What You Can Expect at My Table 🌑 Beginner-Friendly Horror – New players are welcome; I enjoy teaching systems and easing people into horror roleplaying. 🎭 Immersive Presentation – Atmospheric narration, music, and visual support when appropriate. 🧩 Player-Driven Investigation – Your choices matter; clever thinking is rewarded. ⏱️ Professional Reliability – Clear communication, preparation, and respect for everyone’s time. 🔥 Why Choose Me? 🕯️ Horror Specialist – Decades of experience running investigative and atmospheric horror. 📚 Published & Proven – Officially released Call of Cthulhu scenarios with real table use. 🎲 Narrative-First GMing – Focus on tension, mood, and meaningful decisions. 🤝 Respectful & Inclusive – A safe, collaborative table where everyone gets a voice. Ready to uncover dark secrets, face cosmic terror, or struggle to survive against impossible odds? Browse my available games or send me a message — I’d be glad to bring your next horror story to life. Let’s make something unforgettable together.

Character creation

Creating your character

We will create investigators together during Session Zero. We'll meet the group, discuss the campaign, create characters who fit the story, and establish connections between them so everyone has a reason to embark on the journey together. New Call of Cthulhu players are absolutely welcome. I'll guide you through character creation and explain everything you need to know, so no previous experience with the system is required.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

No previous experience with Call of Cthulhu is required, and there's no need to study the rules or research the 1920s before playing. We'll create investigators together during Session Zero, and I'll teach you everything you need to know as we play. You'll need a free Discord account for voice communication and a free Quest Portal account for the virtual tabletop. A reasonably reliable internet connection is recommended for a smooth online session. Beyond that, just come ready to investigate, roleplay, work with the other players, make your own decisions, and discover where the journey takes you.

What Leopoldo "Leovor" Rueda brings to the table

I provide a fully prepared Quest Portal campaign with maps, handouts, character art, and other visual material to bring the journey across Europe to life, combined with Theater of the Mind whenever it better serves the scene. I use music and sound effects to build atmosphere, along with distinct NPC characterization and voices. I also occasionally use voice effects when they can make a particular character or moment more memorable without becoming distracting. Beyond the VTT, I bring 23+ years of GM experience and a player-focused style built around investigation, roleplay, meaningful choices, and consequences. I encourage creative approaches and reward clever ideas and strong roleplaying rather than expecting you to discover one predetermined solution. I keep the game moving with quick, fair rulings instead of stopping play to search through rulebooks, and I'm happy to teach Call of Cthulhu naturally as we play. Whether you're completely new or an experienced investigator, my goal is to give you the freedom to engage with the mystery your way while maintaining the atmosphere and danger that make Call of Cthulhu memorable.

Safety

How Leopoldo "Leovor" Rueda creates a safe table

Horror on the Orient Express is a cosmic horror campaign and may include disturbing themes, violence, death, body horror, and other mature content appropriate to the genre. We'll discuss the campaign's tone, expectations, and any important boundaries during Session Zero. I want the horror to affect the characters, not make the people at the table genuinely uncomfortable. If something unexpected becomes a problem during play, you can tell me at any time, either openly or privately. We can stop, take a break, discuss it, and decide together how best to continue. I'm also available after sessions if anyone wants to talk about something that happened during the game. Above all, I expect everyone at the table to treat each other with respect.
