About the adventure
In the mythic world of Theros, where gods stride across the night sky of Nyx and heroes carve their destinies against the threads of fate, a shadow falls. The constellations of the gods flicker and dim. Ancient temples lose their divine blessings, oracles fall eerily silent, and monsters long held in check surge boldly from the wilds. Hubris among the immortals threatens to unravel the cosmic order itself. As the pantheon’s influence wanes, the mortal realm stands on the brink of chaos. Only a new generation of legends—bold champions, cunning rogues, devout priests, and visionary oracles—can rise to confront the unraveling fates and restore balance before all light fades from the heavens. This campaign plunges you into the heart of Theros, the world of Mythic Odysseys of Theros. Sail the wine-dark Siren Sea aboard swift galleys, explore the marble streets and philosophical schools of Meletis, stand shoulder-to-shoulder with the disciplined hoplites of Akros, or wander the wild Nessian Wood alongside satyrs and centaurs. Venture into the shadowed Underworld, stand before the towering forms of the gods themselves, and battle Nyxborn horrors and titanic beasts drawn from Greek-inspired myth. Your deeds will shape alliances between poleis, awaken ancient powers, and decide whether the divine order endures or crumbles under the weight of pride. We play in D&D 5.5e (the 2024 rules with a few twists here and there lol), embracing the epic scope and heroic fantasy of Theros. The game is designed for 3–6 players who love rich storytelling, meaningful character growth, and high-stakes adventure. We begin in the lower tiers of play—heroic deeds against local threats and uncovering the first omens—then ascend through tiers of play toward mythic confrontations that can literally shake the heavens. Expect a balance of thrilling combat, clever exploration, and deep roleplay. Player decisions genuinely change the world: forgotten temples may be restored or lost forever, rival poleis may rise or fall, and the gods themselves may take notice of your piety… or your defiance. As your caring and organized Dungeon Master, I’ll weave the campaign around your characters’ backstories, ambitions, and choices. I track every major decision, update the living world accordingly, and provide clear recaps so no one gets lost. We’ll draw deeply from official Theros source material—gods, monsters, locations, and lore—while keeping homebrew minimal and clearly marked. I love creating stunning landscape vistas of ruined sanctuaries, storm-lashed coasts, and star-fading Nyx skies to bring every scene to life. Whether you’re a veteran of epic campaigns or new to D&D, if you crave stories of destiny, divine drama, heroic sacrifice, and the thrill of defying (or upholding) fate itself, this campaign is for you. Gather your companions, honor the gods (or question them), and step forward to become the legends Theros will sing about for ages.

About me
Greetings fellow Adventurers! My name is Milo and I have been a GM for quite a while now. I can't even count the amount of time I spent on Dungeons and Dragons, ShadowRun, Cyberpunk Red! I wanted to start hosting games because I wanted to provide people the opportunity to play the game at an affordable price. I do not think games should cost an arm and a leg to participate. My goal is to set up games where it could match the price of a premium cup of coffee per week. What makes me different from most GMs you would find on Startplaying is the low price while maintaining the same level of quality (If not higher) than what you would find in most games. I do a variety of character voices. These range from the old wizard who is teaching the wonders of evocation magic, to the hulking barbarian warlord, and to the cute little plasmoid with a backpack on a spelljammer ship. Creating and immersing my players in a world is what I hope to accomplish. As much as I like to brag about how I excel at Excel (Badum tss), I am an adept at FoundryVTT. I love making modules for GMs to use in their games and I can honestly say that I can teach even the most Boomer individual how to navigate it. For most of my games, you will find that I like to do a 30% combat and 70% roleplaying ratio (depending on the campaign setting). If you are looking for a GM who loves crazy ideas, player focused stories and immersion then welcome! "TTRPGs for me, is not a story I put you through but one that we all come together to create. This is OUR story." - Milo (Yes, I quoted myself... I know it's cringe.)

Creating your character
Your characters will be deeply tied to the world of Theros through personal hobbies, interests, or competitive pursuits. Story arcs and character growth in this campaign revolve around the many festivals, competitions, and grand events that define life on Theros. Examples: A martial character might train for and compete in Olympic-style athletic games. A wizard or artificer could showcase their latest invention at a grand exhibition or innovation contest. A bard might rise to prominence through legendary debate competitions or performance festivals. Characters will start at level 1. Character creation will happen together during Session 0. This lets us build characters that fit the campaign tone and connect naturally to upcoming festivals and story beats. As far as stat generation, it is point-buy or standard array. The main sourcebook for this campaign is Mythic Odysseys of Theros. You may use any officially published content available on D&D Beyond. If there’s a specific book or option you really want that isn’t currently shared in my campaign, just let me know and I’ll make it available. All homebrew races, classes, subclasses, spells, feats, etc. (including those found on D&D Beyond) must be approved by me before use. During Session 0 we’ll also go over backgrounds, bonds, flaws, and how your character’s chosen hobby/interest ties into the larger world. I want everyone to have a character they’re excited to grow through the festivals and trials ahead!
What to expect
Preparing for the session
You are going to need a Discord account (for voice chat) and The Forge account (which is for the server, no purchase needed). Other than that, a microphone and a good internet connection is all that you need. The Forge -> Forge.vtt Discord -> Discord.com
What Milo Income brings to the table
I do full character voices and accents for NPCs. I love bringing the world to life and making interactions memorable and fun. I use ambient music and sound effects (via Foundry VTT or other tools) to set the mood — whether it’s the bustling energy of a Theros festival, the tension of an arena match, or the epic stakes of a divine trial. I run intense, tactical combat. I use theater of the mind when it fits and switch to detailed maps/tokens for big fights. Expect smart enemies that use terrain, teamwork, and interesting tactics. Combat feels dynamic and dangerous. I strongly embrace the Rule of Cool. If you describe something awesome and creative, I’m usually going to find a way to make it work. That said, I still run a solid foundation of the rules (mostly RAW with some common sense tweaks). I’ll never let the game get bogged down in rules debates — fun and story come first.
Homebrew rules
The Help Action Proficiency Required: When you use the Help action for an ability check, you must be proficient in that specific skill. Interposing: You can use the Help action for saving throws if you anticipate an effect hitting another player. That player gains advantage on the saving throw. Ability Checks No Passive Attributes: We do not use passive scores (like Passive Perception); we roll for those checks normally. However, I will keep your character's strengths in mind. If I believe you are skilled enough to succeed automatically, no roll is required. Intimidation: You may use your Strength modifier instead of Charisma for Intimidation checks. You're Not That Dumb: Remember, the average commoner has a score of roughly 10 in their mental stats. You aren't mindless. Character Restrictions No Evil Characters: No exceptions. The "Sasuke" Limit: Only one "Sasuke-type" character is allowed per table. Definition: A "Sasuke" is a character who strongly prefers independence, solitude, and self-reliance, often valuing their own methods over the group's. While they can be cool in specific contexts, they are often a detriment to the party (rolls eyes). D&D is meant to be a fun, cooperative experience. Note: If you choose to be the Sasuke character, you will likely have a hard time being alone. The party must decide together who takes this role. Narrative Systems "I Know A Guy" System: Sometimes players do not flesh out their backstories entirely. This system allows you to add elements during gameplay to keep the story moving. Example: If the party hits a dead end in a town, a player can say, "Hey, I think I know a [guy/girl/contact] here who can help." I will use this as a tool to insert a helpful NPC to guide you. Thematic Progression System: I prefer leveling up to make narrative sense rather than just looking at a math sheet. How it works: Through roleplay, you practice a specific spell or class feature you are about to learn. Mastery: Upon mastery (at my discretion), you are granted a single use of that spell or feature. You do not fully level up yet. Leveling Up: Once every player has gone through this process, the whole party levels up. The "single use" restriction is then removed. Combat & Mechanics Resistance: Resistance to non-magical Slashing, Piercing, and Bludgeoning damage is removed. (Whoever thought of this mechanic was probably bullied by jocks as a kid). Milestone XP: We use Milestone leveling. Who wants to do math during D&D? Minion System: Some NPCs will have only 1 HP. This allows for cinematic "hack and slash" moments (Doom Eternal style). Note: Not all NPCs are minions. Cinematic Advantage: If you describe a particularly cool action, I will reward you with advantage. Secret Death Saves: Death Saving Throws are rolled in secret. You are not allowed to tell the table what you rolled. Critical Skill Checks: A Natural 20 on a skill check is an automatic success; a Natural 1 is an automatic failure. (Note: Suc

How Milo Income creates a safe table
We’ll discuss content expectations, boundaries, and campaign tone right at the start. I use this system so you can clearly communicate topics you want to avoid entirely (Lines) or handle only lightly/off-screen (Veils). I use the X-Card system (and N/O cards when helpful). If anything comes up that makes you uncomfortable, there will be a X button (on Foundry VTT) you can press and we’ll immediately rewind, edit, or skip forward — no questions asked. You can step away from the table or leave a session at any time without explanation. Your well-being comes first. We’ll take regular breaks, especially during longer sessions. After intense scenes or at the end of sessions, we’ll do quick debriefs. (10 mins) I’m mindful of emotional bleed between character and player. I provide aftercare check-ins when needed. I don't just play support characters, I am also an emotional support friend. At the end of sessions, we’ll do a quick “Stars and Wishes” round so you can tell me what you loved and what you’d like more of next time.
