About the adventure

The Sword Coast is a land of bustling cities, dangerous roads, forgotten ruins, and plenty of work for adventurers willing to take a few risks. You’ll begin near Daggerford as relatively unknown adventurers looking for coin, opportunity, and perhaps a little glory. What starts with local troubles and strange mysteries will gradually draw you farther across the Forgotten Realms—and into events much larger than anyone initially realizes. This is a classic Forgotten Realms adventure campaign with a strong mix of exploration, roleplaying, investigation, dungeon delving, and combat. Adventures may begin with a village in trouble, rumors of an old ruin, a missing traveler, or something that simply doesn’t make sense. Some stories stand on their own; others leave clues and consequences that slowly reveal connections to a larger threat developing behind the scenes. I like to run a world that responds to the players rather than pushing them along a predetermined storyline. Your choices matter, NPCs remember what you do, problems can have more than one solution, and not every enemy needs to be fought. If you enjoy discovering mysteries, exploring the Forgotten Realms, developing your character through play, and watching a group of ordinary adventurers gradually become genuine heroes, this campaign is for you.

About me

I am a veteran of 30 years of Table Top Roleplaying, Live Roleplaying, and Online play. I have recently stepped away from LARP, to focus on online gaming with friends. I am passionate about roleplay as an expression of storytelling and am seeking collaborative work with kindred spirits.

What David brings to the table

I run a character-driven game where player choices matter and the world responds to what you do. Expect plenty of opportunities for roleplay, investigation, exploration, and creative problem-solving alongside meaningful combat. NPCs have their own personalities and motivations, decisions can have lasting consequences, and I’m happy to follow the party when you pursue an unexpected idea rather than forcing everyone back onto a predetermined path. Combat is challenging without being designed simply to kill characters. Enemies behave according to their intelligence and circumstances, terrain and objectives matter, and sometimes winning means something other than reducing every opponent to zero hit points. I generally follow the rules, but I’m comfortable with the Rule of Cool when a player has a clever idea that fits the situation and makes the game better. Most importantly, I want players to have room to make their characters their own. Character backgrounds, relationships, ambitions, flaws, and choices can become part of the campaign itself. Bring me a character you’re excited to play, engage with the other players and the world around you, and we’ll discover together where their story goes.

Homebrew rules

Drinking a potion can be done as a Bonus Action. I use the Perkin's Crit; Full damage is applied, then dice for damage are rolled and added to the final damage amount.

Safety

How David creates a safe table

Session 0 will discuss specific topics and boundaries for game play. I utilize Lines and Veils, and schedule time at the end of session for Aftercare, to address bleed, and go over Stars and Wishes. During gameplay we use X, N, O's to signal issues in chat. Open door policy is used to allow players to opt out of specific intense experiences.
