About the adventure
Shadow of the Dragon Queen puts you on the ground as war returns to Krynn. You’ll watch armies advance, meet people caught in their path, discover what the return of dragons means for the world, and decide what you’re willing to do about it. But this isn’t just a story about a war happening around you. Your characters belong in Krynn. Their families, rivals, beliefs, failures, and victories can become part of this story. Those your character never thought they'd care about may become people you’d march into an army to save. A decision you make in one session may come back months later. The adventure gives us a fantastic foundation, but your choices determine the story we build on top of it. Expect desperate battles and impossible decisions. Expect exploration, roleplay, mysteries, and characters who remember what you’ve done. Expect terrible plans that somehow work, jokes that derail the table, victories worth celebrating, and occasionally the kind of moment where everyone goes quiet. I'm a DM who loves Dragonlance! I grew up reading the Dragonlance novels. These were some of the stories that made me fall in love with fantasy in the first place. I’ve explored this world through its novels, its characters, and behind the GM screen. That familiarity means I don’t have to treat the edges of the adventure book like walls. When you become curious about something, wander somewhere unexpected, or grab onto a piece of Krynn that wasn’t supposed to matter, there’s a world beyond the page for us to explore. But you don’t need to know any of it. If you’ve loved Dragonlance for years, there will be familiar names, places, history, and plenty buried in the world for you to discover. If you’ve never heard the name Raistlin Majere, you get something just as good: the chance to encounter Krynn for the first time. You don’t need to know Krynn’s history. You get to make some of it.

Meet the Game Master
About me
Matt here! I fell in love with tabletop role-playing games (TTRPGs) playing Dungeons & Dragons in 1989. I was eight years old, over at my friend's house, and their older brother ran the game. Though the game only lasted three weeks, I was hooked on the story, world-building, and absolute joy of the game. However, I couldn't find anyone to run e-games or be a Game Master. So, I accepted that role and turned as many friends I could into players, then began turning any players I could find into friends. My first love is the story and characters, and combat keeps it interesting. For a long time, a company called White Wolf made my favorite games. I ran those for years and gave up on D&D because most people I found at the time liked the rules more than the story, and I could never find people who enjoyed both. Then, Critical Role brought everyone out of the woodwork! After watching their streams along with Relics and Rarities, I started to explore D&D games again. And I couldn't be happier about this! About a year ago, I started making steps to turn my 30 years of experience and passion for D&D into a full-time, sustainable career. In one year, I found terrific players and, by the grace of God, have been able to become a full-time storyteller in the TTRPG space. See you at the table! I hope you will join the games and make amazing friends as we battle and work through fantasy life together.

Creating your character
We’ll build characters together during Session 0 using D&D Beyond, with options that fit naturally into the world of Dragonlance. You don’t need to know Krynn beforehand! I’ll help you find the people, places, beliefs, relationships, and pieces of the setting that make your character feel like they’ve always lived here. Bring a character idea or just bring yourself. We’ll build the rest together.
What to expect
Preparing for the session
We’ll play using D&D Beyond, Discord, and StreamYard. Everything you need to join is free, and I’ll help you get set up before we begin.
What Matt brings to the table
I bring a character-first game where your decisions matter, NPCs remember what you’ve done, and the world changes around the choices your party makes. Expect immersive roleplay, memorable characters, music and atmosphere, tactical encounters, plenty of laughter, and a GM comfortable following you when your choices take the story somewhere unexpected. I’ll also provide access to my D&D Beyond library and everything you need to play.
