About the adventure

It starts with a festival. There’s food, games, music, friendly competition, and plenty of chances to get into trouble. It should be a simple adventure. Then you find something you weren’t supposed to find. From there, things get a little strange. This is a cozy, slightly spooky take on a classic D&D adventure. Expect mystery, exploration, cozy taverns, memorable NPCs, found family, emotional moments, and just enough darkness to keep you wondering what’s around the corner. Your choices matter here. You’ll have room to talk to NPCs, explore, make questionable decisions, and shape the story alongside the rest of the party. New to D&D? You’re welcome. Experienced player? Also welcome. Come for the cozy fantasy. Stay for the mystery.

About me

Ello! I'm Shana, I go by Shanedore or "The DM" to the ones who know me best. I have been a DM for about 4 of the most chaotic, challenging, and rewarding years of my life. I pride myself in building safe, inclusive, and immersive stories. I commit to the bit, for lack of a better phrase, and prioritize the story and the enjoyment of my players more than mechanics. I may or may not fudge a roll to make a player's day, who's asking lol. My biggest goal with this is to enrich the lives of anyone with the courage to be vulnerable and join a table where no one knows what is going to happen. It is my greatest passion and joy.

Character creation

Creating your character

Characters will be created before our first session so we can jump straight into the adventure! We’ll start at Level 6. Please create your character in D&D Beyond and join the campaign using the link provided after signing up. Official D&D 5e character options available through the campaign are welcome. Not sure if something fits? Just ask! New to D&D or character creation? No worries. I’m happy to help. Most importantly, make a character you’re excited to play. You don’t need an optimized build. I care more about who your character is, what they want, and how they fit into the story.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

Before the Game Please complete the following steps before your first session: Join the campaign Discord server: The invite link will be provided after you sign up. Create or access a D&D Beyond account: Your character will be created and managed through D&D Beyond. Join the D&D Beyond campaign: Use the campaign invitation link provided by me after sign up. Create a Level 3 character: Follow the character creation guidelines provided for this campaign. Have your character sheet completed before Session 1: Please make sure your abilities, equipment, spells, and backstory are ready to go. Have a microphone and stable internet connection: Voice communication is required. Come ready to roleplay!: You don't need to be an experienced roleplayer. Bring a character you're excited to play and be ready to collaborate with the rest of the party. Create a Discord account: Discord will be used for game announcements, communication, and questions between sessions. What You Don't Need You don't need to purchase any additional books or VTT software to participate. All required campaign information and character creation instructions will be provided by me. Before Session 1: Make sure your Discord account, D&D Beyond character, and character sheet are ready to go. Then grab your dice and get cozy!

What Shana Mignon brings to the table

I want this game to feel immersive, relaxed, and fun. We’re here to tell a good story together, not rush from combat to combat. I use NPC voices, background music, and ambient sounds when they add to the scene. NPCs will have their own personalities, opinions, and reactions to your choices. Your character matters. Give them goals, relationships, or little details I can work into the story, and I’ll look for ways to make them part of the adventure. I generally follow the rules, but I also believe in the Rule of Cool. If you have a fun idea, ask. We’ll figure it out. Combat will be meaningful, but it won’t take over the game. There will also be plenty of exploration, mystery, roleplay, and quieter moments. The tone is cozy with a darker edge. Think warm taverns, festivals, strange discoveries, found family, and the occasional moment where things get a little unsettling. You don’t need to know every rule or be an experienced roleplayer. I’ll help when you need it. Most importantly, I want everyone to have space to contribute, make mistakes, make friends, make questionable decisions, and have fun. Your choices will shape the story.

Safety

How Shana Mignon creates a safe table

I want the game to be a place where everyone can relax, have fun, and participate without feeling pressured to engage with content they're uncomfortable with. Before the campaign begins, players will receive a Lines and Veils document where they can privately indicate topics they do not want included in the game or topics they are comfortable having referenced but not shown in detail. These boundaries will be respected throughout the campaign. During Session 0, we'll also go over expectations for the table, communication, roleplay, and the general tone of the campaign. I'll explain the types of themes that may come up so players know what to expect before we begin. During play, I use digital safety tools so players can communicate privately if something becomes uncomfortable. Players can message me directly at any point rather than having to explain themselves in front of the group. If something needs to stop or change, we'll simply move on without requiring an explanation. Players are also welcome to take a break at any time. You never need to justify stepping away from the game. After particularly intense or emotional sessions, I'll check in with the group and make sure everyone is doing okay. If something comes up during the campaign that needs to be adjusted, I'm happy to have a private conversation and make changes going forward. The goal is to create a table where people can enjoy a spooky, sometimes dark story while still feeling respected and comfortable with the people they're playing with.
