About the adventure
Welcome to Tyranny of Dragons. This adventure is two thrilling tales, Hoard of the Dragon Queen and The Rise of Tiamat, combining them into a single campaign-spanning Dungeons & Dragons adventure. This adventure is designed for a party of four to six 1st-level characters, who should advance to approximately 15th level by the time they reach the final showdown with the goddess Tiamat herself. In the course of this adventure, you’ll face an evil alliance intent on unleashing a draconic apocalypse upon Faerûn. The Cult of the Dragon, the Red Wizards of Thay, and a conspiracy of other villains plot to reshape the world, making it ready for the coming of Tiamat. As events unfold, dragons rampage across the Sword Coast, serving at the vanguard of a legion of cultists, fiends, and worse. To oppose these forces, new heroes must rise and resist them—yet they need not do so alone. Groups like the Harpers, the Lord’s Alliance, and even the wicked Zhentarim might be rallied to oppose the Cult of the Dragon, but only if clever souls convince them to put aside their age-old rivalries. Will the people of the Realms stand and oppose the forces of dragonkind, or will they fall amid waves of dragon breath? This campaign is good for anyone looking for the full level 1 and up experience, as well as getting their character's plotlines involved alongside the main story.

About me
I've been an on-again, off-again GM for around 9 years; my first introduction to TTRPGs came from a gift from my Grandmother. She gifted me a beginner's set for D&D's Lost Mine of Phandelver for my 16th birthday, and I spent weeks begging my friends to play it with me. My love of the game ended with me helping my High School start our very own Games Club, where I began my homebrew adventures. During the Pandemic, I GM'd for a group of 6 friends to kill time and keep us sane when things were scary. It was my longest-run campaign, lasting two full years before we ended things. I've continued to run small games for other groups of friends, but it's high time I start looking for others who want to create a long-standing game, have fun, and make great memories. I run the Rule of Cool, and welcome Homebrew ideas into most of my campaigns. I want to create a story with people, not just force them into a narrative I decide on alone. If someone comes up with a super cool idea, I'm not going to be a hard rules lawyer over it. It's cool, you'll have fun doing it. I want that. My tables are meant to be full of fun and creativity, and I reward that. If my table has a good time, then so do I.

Creating your character
Character creation will happen during session 0 over Discord VC. We will have a call to set up your character sheet on D&D Beyond, as well as come up with your character's backstory and why they are meeting the party.
What to expect
Preparing for the session
Please have a Discord account to join a server for the game, as well as a D&D Beyond account for both character creation and the VTT.
What Azel brings to the table
I heavily embrace the Rule of Cool as well as Homebrew to give my players the fun experience they deserve. I do my best with character voices but I also try to use some ambient music via Discord VC to set the scene.
Homebrew rules
I do rule that drinking a potion is a bonus action.

How Azel creates a safe table
Before Session 0 even happens, I will send each player the Monte Cook RPG Consent Checklist, so I have a copy of it by Session 0. Session 0 will go over any hard no's the players may have, as well as boundaries, romance options, and general introductions to each other. During session there will be at least one 5-10 minute break. After session there will be roughly a 10 minute debrief time where players will discuss their likes, dislikes, and things that could be better in session next time. It will also give players time to talk through any issues. During campaign, I run Open Door, where you can step away at any time. No questions or judgement if you just need to take a step back, if something was wrong we can go over it either in the debrief or in DM's. X, N, and O is used through the whole campaign, usually in the VTT chat.
