About the adventure

You are a DM that wants to hone their skills ? This unique concept takes a small group of 'learning DMs' that play out the campaign "Dragon of Icespire Peak". We swap DM regularly and then the others play. 2/3rd of the session is spent on the actual role-playing, after which the remaining time is spent on a group discussion about it. This unique approach has a number of advantages: πŸ‘πŸΌ 1. As we're playing a campaign, the party can go deeper into non-combat role-playing (party relations, backstories, fleshed out/evolving NPCs, ...), so we can get very real experience on some of these topics (theory typically doesn't get you far in these areas) πŸ‘πŸΌ 2. Although we have a list of topics we can focus on, the DM-for-the-session can highlight certain aspects of their DM-ing they want to focus on, and we can get cater the session to meet this. πŸ‘πŸΌ 3. It goes away from 'One right way of DM-ing', as the diverse group will react differently to many situations. This allows the DMs to also discover what kind of players they match with most, or what playstyle thy find most enjoyable themselves. I can go on ... but I won't. If you like to become a better DM, but also like to play, or don't want to feel like you have to 'study' to become better, this is the format for you. I hope you join us for some amazing adventures and stellar growth πŸŽ‰

About me

Hey, I'm The WWWeaver, or just Tom. I've been a DM for more than 20 years for Call of Cthulhu, and the last 5 years switched mostly to Dungeons and Dragons. I have (co-)written several campaign books, and I love to present my D&D players with a mix of the 3 pillars; social, exploration and combat. I weave homebrew into official settings, and tie it all together with the strings of backstories. I have a background in the movie and audio industry, and more recently game development. I've been a story writer and teller for as long as I can remember, and it's such a joy to create epic cinematic experiences with my players. I love working with new players to see them experience this world of amazement, but also cater to experienced players with tons of homebrew systems (crafting, injuries, weather, organizations, ...) that can always be added to games depending on the passions and interests of the players.

Character creation

Creating your character

The first session will be spent on getting introduced, discussing our ground rules (a full session 0, or multiple ones, will follow later), and discussing the Art of Character Creation. Every DM is also a player, so also makes a player character. As you'll never DM for your own PC, you have a lot of freedom to make a character (including backstory).

What to expect

Preparing for the session

Know Roll20-discord(-DNDBeyond) setup is a plus, as we don't want to waste too much time in technicalities, so we can get to the playing and learning asap. Other than that, you can bring a character concept for your character (please don't flesh out completely, that's part of the first lesson), as well as specific topics you may like to see addressed (like examples of situations at the table you felt you could have handled better, areas you feel you should grow in, ...).

What The WWWeaver brings to the table

- Extensive Zero 0 documentation (with over 200 topics) to get inspired by - Roll20 with all the necessary maps, dynamic lighting, macros for creatures, ... to make the setup and play as easy as possible for DMs - Audio (and video optionally) via Discord - DnD Beyond can be used, but is not mandatory (plugin beyond20 is used to integrate the rolls into roll20)
