About the adventure
YOU ARE NOT JOINING A CAMPAIGN. YOU ARE ENTERING A LIVING WORLD. Thousands of miles away, another party of adventurers is making a decision that could change your next session. A king was assassinated last week. A city burned yesterday. An ancient god was awakened this morning. This is a persistent shared-world D&D campaign where multiple groups of players adventure in the same evolving universe. Your choices become canon. Destroy a fortress? It's gone. Kill an important NPC? They're dead. Start a war? Other players may fight in it. Discover a legendary artifact? Someone else might come looking for it. Every group writes another chapter in the history of the world. YOUR ADVENTURE IS YOURS. You get your own party, characters, relationships, quests, and story. About me
My name is Kris (He/They), and I have been playing D&D since i was 8 years old. Starting with AD&D, using my dad's old modules. It scratched the creative itch in my brain like nothing else can. Since then for 20 years I've been crafting worlds and stories with my friends and other new players who wish to try. I'm also very inspired by film and books that take a naturalistic approach and focus on building communities and friends to take on the world. FINDING not TELLING a great, satisfying story is paramount to me. I'm a very fair and easy going DM. I've helped a lot of new players navigate through playing tabletop games for the first time (including my beloved wife) I also am an artist, so I make it a point to do a lot of character portraits of my players and NPCs (just for fun and free because it makes me personally happy) I run a fully inclusive and safe space, with no toleration for bigotry, racism or exclusionary sentiments. Creating your character
For this campaign we will be running a Session 0 for collaborative character creation. I will offer help for new players. It is found that often peoples first time can be nerve racking if you've never Role Played before, but creating characters together with some thread of shared history HELPS A TON. So that is what we will be doing here :) You probably need either a copy of the 5e player's handbook (2014 or 2024) or DnD Beyond/Roll20
What to expect
Preparing for the session
All you need is Discord, a D&D Beyond account or just a pen and paper! Whatever you have at your disposal we can be flexible around. If you have D&DBeyond account and join the campaign there I can share Sourcebooks with you like the Player's Handbook! Links will be provided on SIGN UP.
What RebelScholar brings to the table
I like to go all out with my campaigns, custom made maps, offering musical playlists with sound effects for immersion, I also offer character portraits hand drawn by me, and other additional art throughout the campaign. Depending on the game I will use visual cues and images or detailed descriptions. I do NPC voices. We typically will follow the rule of cool as to not stifle your creativity, within reason and without breaking tone and setting.
